Orc Race Variant[edit]

The gray orcs are a strange and almost mythical existence lost in the annals of orc history. Supposedly, they were a caste of orcs expelled from the ranks of the usual race due to their deity posing a threat to Gruumsh's leadership. Their orc god was the shaman Rekunghar. Along with Rekunghar, the gray orcs, who also were sort of like shamans, were wiped out from orc society. They came to live on their own and make their own dwellings within the old abandoned caves of beasts. Their art of incensing themselves with blood is considered Rekunghar's greatest gift which they consider superior to that of the faculties of normal orcs, as it covers for their weaker constitution.

This race variant replaces the ASI, Primal Intuition, and Powerful Build traits.

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom increases by 2 and your Strength increases by 1.
  • Shaman's Piety. You are proficient in the Religion skill.
  • Bloodfury. The scent of your blood in the heat of a battle enrages you. While you are below half your maximum hit points, you may use your action make a special melee attack against one creature within your reach, striking with vicious ferocity. If your attack hits, you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) or be frightened of you until the end of its next turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Racial Feat: Horde Vengeance[edit]

Prerequisites: gray orc race variant
When an allied creature you can see drops to 0 hit points, you can use your Bloodfury as a reaction regardless of the number of hit points you have. This does not deplete the number of uses of the trait for you.
