Gravewalker (5e Race)
Gravewalker[edit]
"Watch out lad's. The Gravewalker might jump on us from above"
Physical Description[edit]
Gravewalkers can be any race and look for the most part like any existing race. Occasionally the spiritual bond between the two is strong enough that physical manifestations of the Wraith's race may show on the Gravewalker. For instance a Tiefling's horns or tail, a Yuan-ti's eyes or scales, or a Tabaxi's fur or claws may develop on a human Gravewalker's body. If you choose to go this route in character creation, you may take one trait from the Wraith's host race based on what physical trait was acquired.
History[edit]
Gravewalkers are beings who somehow have bonded with a wraith-like being. This is usually through some sort of necromantic magic, identical tragedies in life, or maybe they were simply born bonded together.
Society[edit]
Gravewalkers, though extremly rare and almost unheard of, are generally shunned and feared by society because most can only recognize the fact that Gravewalkers are undead and so Gravewalkers usually must keep their Wraith hidden from those who can't be trusted.
Gravewalker Names[edit]
Gravewalkers and their wraiths usually take names from their respective races.
Gravewalker Traits[edit]
A Gravewalker is a being who shares a body with a Wraith
Abilities: +2 to either the Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution score, the Gravewalker and Wraith possess seperate Intelligence, Charisma, and Willpower ability scores. They may each have +1 to any one of those 3 scores.
Age: Due to the doubled life force and partial undeath, Gravewalkers can live up to 1000 years.
Alignment:Gravewalkers and their Wraith are not pushed in the direction of any specific alignment, however the two most likely possess differing alignments which may be influenced by their respective races
Size: Size depends on original races of the Gravewalker and Wraith and may be different for the two.
Speed: Your base walking speed is Dexterity modifier×10 feet or 30 feet, whichever is higher. The Wraith has a fly/hover speed of 50 feet and can phase through nonmagical objects but cannot go farther than 50 feet from the Gravewalker.
Same Body: The soul of the Wraith and Gravewalker both reside within the Gravewalker's body, meaning the two share one health pool. However, because of this they can telepathically communicate with each other. The Wraith may not go farther than 15ft from the Gravewalker's body. After every 5 levels the radius at witch the Wraith can travel away from the Gravewalker is increased by 5ft capping at 50ft
Wraith Sense: Because of the connection between the Wraith and the Gravewalker, they have began connecting in unique ways. They gain a +2 in perception, have 60ft of darkvision, and can sense undead.
Fused Essence: The Wraith is able to inhabit the same space as the Gravewalker without penalties. If the Gravewalker and Wraith are able to work together, then the Wraith can be allowed to takeover, meaning their ghostly ethereal body takes the place of the Gravewalker and the Gravewalker's body is transported to a pockst space. This gives the Wraith free reign to move without worrying about the pain of going too far away from the Gravewalker. The Wraith also becomes its own class with its base skills and benefits and is resistant to nonmagical damage in this fused state. This state can only be used for 10 minutes between long rests and any longer will result in the forced seperation of the two along with the Gravewalker entering a 24 hour coma.
Etheral One: All the equipment granted by the Wraith's class are ethereal and any weapons are considered magical dealing an extra 1d8 per attack. This equipment cannot be used or disarmed by any nonethereal beings. Once you gain the second attack benefit you can summon the wraith to fight by your side using your attack that turn.
Control By Fear Once per long rest the Gravewalker can Intimidate someone by exposing his wraith.
Languages: You can read, write, understand and speak Common, Undead, and one other language.
