Grappler[edit]

Fighter Subclass

There are many schools of fights, and one of them is the art of grappling - techniques to use one's own body to immobilize, harm and manipulate the body of another's. Many knights, especially the ones that were so heavily armored that conventional arms were ineffective against them, had vast knowledge on the topic, and used it extensively.

The Basics

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Athletics skill. If you are already proficient, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses this skill.

Throwing hands

Also at 3rd level, you gain the folowing benefits:

  • You can use your bonus action to make one grapple or shove attempt.
  • When you shove a creature, you can push it up to 10 feet away.
  • When you impose prone condition to a creature, it takes an extra bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6.
  • When you are grappling a creature, your speed is not reduced from the dragging, unless the creature's size is larger than yours.
Magic in Throwing over the Shoulder

At 7th level, your expertise in unarmed combat grants you the following benefits:

  • Your unarmed strikes count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
  • When you are making an opportunity attack, you can instead try to shove or grapple your target.
Greater Grappler

At 10th level, your mastery over your technique grants you the following benefits:

  • When you shove a creature, you can now push it up to 15 feet away, and if this forced movement is stopped by another creature, wall or some other terrain or object, the creature takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage.
  • When you impose prone condition to a creature, the damage it recieves increases to 2d6.
  • When you are grappling a creature, your speed is not reduced from the dragging, unless the creature's size is two size categories larger than yours.
The Block

At 15th level, your extensive experience in thrashing others around can be applied to protect yourself against such attempsts. You gain the following benefits:

  • You cannot be forcibly shoved, moved or knocked prone, unless you allow it.
  • When you use your second wind feature, you additionally gain temporary hit points equal to the roll's total.
Body Shield

At 18th level, when you are hit by an attack you can use your reaction to make one creature you are grappling take the damage instead of you.
