Gadragger (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Gadragger[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
Gadraggers have entered the legends of many races as "mountain monsters". They are all between 6 and 6 1/2 feet tall but only generally weigh between 100 to 120 lbs. They are extremely lanky and have reversed eyelids over their red or orange eyes and are completely bald. Their skin ranges from dark green to almost lime green, but generally the darker the skin the older they are. Other than slight breasts and slightly curved hips there is very little physical difference between male and female Gadragger.
History[edit]
The Gadraggers worship magic artifacts, thinking them the way to a celestial heaven known as Skertellax. They have this mentality from an ancient scroll that appeared in a library of theirs thousands of years ago *depending on the campaign of course*. After discovering this, the scroll told them that they must abandon the ways of the regular forest and grassland dwellers and live in the mountains to escape the prejudices against them, and they have lived high in the mountains ever since.
Society[edit]
Gadragger live in cities in the hollowed out tops of mountains. Most Gadragger are nice and pleasant and are referred to as Destati Gadragger. The other roles in a city are played by the following 3 subraces. The first is the Ambassadors, which are chosen as young children for being especially nice Gadragger known as Phibinum Gadragger. They go out of the cities searching for artifacts to help them establish the connection to Skertellax. They also attempt to form steady relationships with the races of the forests and grasslands to attempt to buy artifacts from them, especially elves. The second is the Cartographer for which each Gadragger settlement has only one. The Cartographer sorts and appraises each and every artifact that is brought in to the city. They are chosen at birth by being born with a small blue patch on the back of their head. They are wise and calm and are called Kvinn Gadragger. If more than one is born the second one is taken on as an apprentice by the first. If more are born after that they are almost always chosen as teachers or scholars for the city. The final specialist is the Allfather, which is the Gadragger equivalent of a king. The only real difference is that the Allfather is elected by popular vote and must be approved by the Cartographer. Once elected, the Allfather rules until his death. The election pool is drawn from very strong-willed Gadragger known as Pochiko Gadragger.
