From D&D Wiki
Firearm Virtuoso[edit]
Fighter Subclass
In a world where the clash of swords and the chant of spells dominate the battlefield, there exists a cadre of warriors who have mastered a different kind of power—the explosive force of gunpowder. The Firearm Virtuoso, a martial archetype that walks the line between genius and daredevil, wields this power with unparalleled skill. With a firearm in hand, they become artists of the bullet, painting their stories across the canvas of combat with each pull of the trigger.
Born from the smoke and fire of invention, these fighters dedicate themselves to the craft and mastery of firearms, treating each gun as an extension of their own body. They are tinkerers and warriors, equally comfortable at the workbench modifying their weapons as they are on the battlefield, unleashing precise volleys of bullets at their foes.
The Firearm Virtuoso is a figure of legend, cloaked in the mystique of their unique weaponry. They are the sharpshooters who can pick off an enemy from a hundred paces, the duelists whose aim is true in the heart-stopping moments of a standoff, and the innovators who constantly push the boundaries of what is possible with their firearms.
Whether driven by a quest for vengeance, the thrill of adventure, or the simple joy of a challenge, Firearm Virtuosos make their mark on the world with each shot fired. They understand that with every round spent, they are not just using a weapon; they are making a statement—a declaration that they are masters of their fate, and woe betide those who stand against them.
- Arsenal Artisan
Starting at 3rd level, your affinity for firearms has led you to master the art of crafting, maintaining, and customizing these complex weapons. Your deep understanding of gunpowder, ballistics, and weapon mechanics allows you to create and modify firearms to suit your needs. You gain the following benefits :
- Craftsman's Insight : You gain proficiency with Tinker's Tools, if you don't already have it. Using these tools, you can spend 1 hour and a certain amount of gold (determined by the DM, based on the firearm) to craft ammunition, repair damaged firearms, or even create new firearms, provided you have access to the necessary materials and a workshop.
- Signature Firearm : You can spend 8 hours and 100 gold pieces to create a signature firearm, a masterpiece of your own design. This firearm can be a pistol, a rifle, or another type of gun allowed by your DM. Your signature firearm is a testament to your skill and creativity as a Firearm Virtuoso, and it grants you the following benefits :
- You have a +1 bonus to attack rolls made with your signature firearm.
- You can disassemble and reassemble your signature firearm during a short rest. This allows you to conceal it, transport it easily, or customize it with special materials or embellishments you come across in your adventures.
- If your signature firearm is ever lost or destroyed, you can spend 3 days of work and 300 gold pieces to craft a new one, imbuing it with the same care and expertise as the original.
- Personalized Modifications : You can create modifications for your firearms, such as scopes for improved accuracy, extended barrels for increased range, or custom grips for better handling. At 3rd level, choose two modifications from a list provided by your DM or create your own with DM approval. You can apply each modification to a firearm during a long rest. You can have a number of active modifications equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of one). You can swap out these modifications during a long rest.
- Deadeye's Precision
Beginning at 3rd level, your unmatched skill with firearms allows you to make shots that others would consider impossible. Your deep understanding of ballistics, combined with your steady hand and keen eye, ensures that when you decide to pull the trigger, your aim is true. You gain the following benefits :
- Careful Aim : As a bonus action on your turn, you can take a moment to aim at a target you can see within your weapon's range. Your next attack roll against that target before the end of your turn gains advantage, as long as the attack is made with a firearm.
- Calculated Shot : When you make an attack roll with a firearm against a target, and the roll is a 19 or 20, the attack is a critical hit. Additionally, once per turn, you can add your Intelligence modifier to the damage roll of one firearm attack that hits.
- Rapid Reload : You have refined your reloading techniques to be as efficient as possible. Reloading a firearm costs you no action; you can reload as part of the attack.
- Bullet Ballet
At 7th level, your mastery over firearms enables you to engage in a mesmerizing dance of death on the battlefield, seamlessly blending movement with unerring marksmanship. This ballet of bullets makes you a formidable adversary, as you effortlessly dodge incoming attacks while lining up your next shot. You gain the following benefits :
- Evasive Maneuvers : When you are attacked by a creature you can see, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wielding a firearm to use this feature, and you can use this ability a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
- Mobile Shooter : Your training allows you to move with grace and agility while making precise shots. When you make an attack with a firearm as part of your action, you can move up to 10 feet as a bonus action before or after the attack without provoking opportunity attacks from the target of your attack.
- Gun Fu : You've perfected a unique style of close-quarters gunfighting that allows you to weave through the battlefield, evading attacks while retaliating with your own. When you engage in two-weapon fighting with firearms, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
- Trick Shooter
By the time you reach 10th level, your firearm skills have evolved to include spectacular trick shots that can baffle and demoralize your enemies. You've mastered the art of using your environment and your keen understanding of physics to pull off shots that defy expectations. You gain the following benefits :
- Ricochet Shot : As an action, you can make an attack with a firearm against a target by bouncing the bullet off a hard surface. You ignore cover when making this attack, and the target is surprised by the shot, granting you advantage on the attack roll. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
- Pinning Shot : When you hit a creature with a firearm attack, you can choose to pin a part of their body to a surface (such as a wall or the ground) if they are within 5 feet of it. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your shot save DC (8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier) or be restrained until the end of your next turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
- Disarming Shot : As a bonus action, you can make a firearm attack with the intent to disarm a target, targeting a weapon or an item they are holding. On a hit, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your shot save DC or drop the item. The item lands 10 feet away from the target in a direction of your choice.
- Lightning Reflexes
By the time you reach 15th level, your reactions and instincts have been honed to a superhuman level, allowing you to perform feats of agility and precision shooting that defy belief. Your quick thinking and even quicker reflexes enable you to respond to threats with incredible speed, making you a formidable adversary in any shootout. You gain the following benefits :
- Quick Draw : You gain a bonus to initiative rolls equal to your Dexterity modifier. Additionally, during the first round of combat, your attacks with firearms deal an extra 2d8 damage to any target that has not taken a turn yet.
- Retaliatory Shot : When a creature hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to make a firearm attack against that creature. This attack occurs before the effects of the attack that triggered it. If you hit, you can choose to either reduce the damage of the incoming attack by the damage you dealt or push the attacker up to 15 feet away from you.
- Snapshot Precision : Once on each of your turns when you miss with a firearm attack, you can reroll the attack roll. You must use the new roll.
- Master Gunner
At 18th level, you achieve the pinnacle of firearm mastery, becoming a legendary figure on the battlefield whose shots are spoken of in awe. Your understanding of gunplay transcends mere skill, entering the realm of art. Each bullet you fire is a testament to your unmatched expertise. You gain the following benefits :
- Inescapable Aim : Your shots find their mark even under the most improbable conditions. Your attacks with firearms ignore half cover and three-quarters cover, and attack rolls against targets beyond the normal range of your firearm don't suffer disadvantage.
- Bullet Storm : You can unleash a barrage of bullets with devastating precision. As an action, you can make a firearm attack against any number of creatures within a 30-foot radius centered on a point you can see within your weapon's range. You must have ammunition for each target, and you make a separate attack roll for each target.
- Eternal Marksman : Your bond with your firearms becomes almost magical. Choose up to two firearms you own; these weapons are now considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. Additionally, once on each of your turns when you score a critical hit with a firearm or reduce a creature to 0 hit points with one, you can make one additional firearm attack as part of the same action.
