First off, this spell can only be cast by a lich.
This powerful spell allows the lich to simulate its own destruction. When badly wounded, the lich may cast this spell. Once done, the lich's body crumbles to dust, and detection spells or abilities will indicate that its spirit has returned to its phylactery. In reality, the lich's body has used a ability identical to teleport without error to escape. At the same time, a pile of dust and bones has replaced the lich. Any non-cloth possessions of the lich are replaced with iron replicas.
