Resembling a reed-like growth amid the place where ancient undeath find final rest , lichbane is something like a thin, bone-white rod of grass that is likened to "bones sprouting from the earth." Looking closely, one might notice it has slight sections along the stem, not unlike bamboo. The texture of this plant is largely similar to hollow bird bones or dried out driftwood. It grows pale, white leaves in the shape of long, slender blades. Towards the bottom, lichbane widens into a cluster of thin bulbs resembling slivery bells. The root of the plant is said to vaguely resemble coccyx bones. Lichbane grows grey flowers once every decade. These flowers are long and bell shaped, with nine petals. When fully bloomed, these flowers glow with a faint pale light. These stamen have thin white anther that gliter with a ethereal glow. As can be expected, the many motifs of death and final rest in this plant make it generally a fitting gift to the departed
Stories[edit]
The lich Vecna is the god of secret whom fell at the hand of Kas. It is said that at the site of this battle Lichbane first appear. This initial rendition of lichbane was discover by a scholar of necromancy. To the scholar shock, the branches began to flower with the mourning voices of the dead and holđ within it the ability to put undead to their final rest. She placed these in graveyard, where their moans harmonized with the frigid howls of the winds on cold nights. Lich was said to avoid areas with these flowers for fear that they might be put to their final rest
Ecology[edit]
Present only in places with an abundance of negative energy such as graveyards or site of mass burial or great battle, Lichbane are a very rare plant . It cant not reproduce through seed as it does not bear fruit . It only spread where an undead is put to rest in near it where through unknown mean , more lichbane would spout from the undead The flower take in negative energy of undead and purified them which usually take decades After all negative energy have been cleanse , the Lichbane simply disintegrate in to mote of light which have the effect of enriching the soil for plant life to grow anew Living sentient creature feel at peace in its present with animal avoid eating it , Undead that suffered from their unnatural state or are unwilling participant in dark ritual actively seek them out while sentient and evil undead (lich , vampire or other) feel a deep fear from the bloom as it is one of few thing that could bring them the dead they have avoid for so long
Growth and Harvest[edit]
Grow naturally in place stuffed with negative energy, this plant is almost incapable of being grown artificially. The plant is rare and delicate, quite hard to be transport. As it only bloom from undead it is impossible to grow within a garden (people don’t like kiting undead from who know where in to feed the flower). Sometime at the defeat of great undead or in place of an overwhelming negative energy surge, this flower can appear (not helpful for the purpose of farming) It unconventional method of reproduction (full maturity when spouted) making cultivation impossible (spell like animate dead at base level are not sufficient to make more blooms)
As the entire plant are what is harvested to use as decoration and defense against undead, harvest usually involve gently picking the full living flower with it root intact to be replanted somewhere else. If remove from it root, the plant rapidly fades away into mote of light.
