Entombed in Amber
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: S, V, M
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100ft. + 10ft./Level)
Target: One Creature
Duration: 1 hour/Level
Saving Throw: Fortitude (Negate)
Spell Resistance: Yes

The subject (along with all items it carries) becomes covered in a thick layer of amber. This amber freezes the target in place, turning it into a statue for the duration of the spell. The amber renders the target paralyzed until the spell ends (or until the amber is broken). They do not require food or water while entombed. They can see vague shapes through the amber, though they cannot discern fine details and cannot see any further than 20 ft. in any direction. They can hear muffled sounds (as though underwater), but cannot discern the nature of these sounds and cannot hear anything further than 30 ft. in any direction (unless the sound is particularly loud, like an explosion, or the sound is related to an effect which deals sonic damage). Most other senses are nullified entirely while encased in amber (including scent), though blindsense, blindsight, and tremorsense still function as usual.

If attacked, the amber's AC is the same as the target's flat-footed AC. It has a hardness of 10 and 15 Hit Points. For the purposes of the "shatter" spell, the amber counts as a crystalline creature (the target does not, unless it would already have counted as one).

If the amber is broken, the spell's primary effect ends early. The target is dazzled while in bright light for 1 round/level. This secondary duration can exceed the normal duration of this spell.

Material Component: Amber gemstone worth 20 gp.
