Endathar[edit]

If I don't go through with this, the rest of the demons will hunt down every other demon that Lady Kyra creates on the chance that they will be good as well. I'm not doing this for me. I'm doing this for those that'll follow me.
—Greater Demon Endathar in response to Jastan's warnings

Physical Description[edit]

Endathar are feline creatures covered in short, dark fur ranging in color from navy blue, to maroon, dark grey, and black. They stand slightly taller than humans and have short muzzles with sharp pointed teeth and two large fangs which are prominent when they smile. They have retractable claws on every finger but the claws on their middle and ring fingers can grow up to two inches as opposed to the one inch claws on the rest of their fingers. Their eyes can be any color imaginable, and are one of two ways to see past an endathar's excellent poker face, as they change with mood. The other way is their tail. An endathar's tail as quite long, usually being over half as long as the endathar's height. The fur on the tail is much longer than the fur on the rest of its body, usually two to three times as long. The tail fur is also special as it can change pigment also based on mood.

History[edit]

The endathar were created by the god Jastan and his wife Kyra. Jastan held them with little regard due to their unsightliness and left them to Kyra for keeping. She created more of them on her own and her trusted guard, Endathar, watched them with her. The endathar were so named because Endathar was the great god who died for them to truly exist. Endathar was a good god but also a demon. Endathar were originally fashioned in the shape of fiends, but they were not completely so. Thus, they were reviled and hunted by greater demons. Jastan did not wish to dirty his hands protecting them, and warned Endathar of the same.

However, Endathar gave his life so as to make them true fiends, granting them protection from much of the harm that would have befallen them. As a result however, Jastan had all the endathar disowned and casted from his divine realm. Lady Kyra grieved over the loss of her creations and Endathar. Jastan locked her away in a heavenly tower deep in his domain. It is said the endathar are inherently drawn to Kyra's bereaved cries, which leads them to Jastan's realm. They are inherently inclined to oppose Jastan for having abandoned them. However Jastan was wily and made it known of the endathar's true nature. People feared the demons and the endathar were hated as much as the tieflings.

Society[edit]

Endathar were not true fiends until the death of the great demon god. When Jastan casted them aside, their eyes were opened and they embraced their new chaotic and evil nature to fight the god. Endathar do not commonly venture outside their hamlets, which are threadbare and few and far in between. Usually, they move instead as a unit. They are aware of their place in the world and how repugnant they are seen as. However, that doesn't stop them from following that sad song of cries that rings in their dreams and tells them of a trapped maiden in a god's tower.

Endathar often live in a polyamorous society led by the strongest and smartest. They are very adaptable to environments as nomads. However, they often get into skirmishes with towns they rest near, which can usually only end badly. Endathar are not afraid to play demon and ransack a town or two.
