From D&D Wiki
Dreamlander[edit]
“ | Imagination has immeasurable power, as gigantic as that of a deity. Believing too much in something can make it come true, can forge worlds, create lives, and shape cultures. The gift of creativity brought living beings the power to dream, becoming the blessing that permeates this world... Along with it a curse was created, the Nightmares. | ” |
—Oniros, The First Dream. |
Physical Description[edit]
Among Dreamlanders, there are two well-known types, the Dreams and the Nightmares:
The Dreams are known for having kind and friendly features, often appearing harmless and with appearances that look like something out of a fairy tale book. Their eyes tend to have a unique glow that looks like a star, and can have any kind of color, and in rare cases a rainbow pigmentation. Their size can be small or medium, having humanoid forms that mostly resemble humans, but can encompass any kind of fantasy being that has this aesthetic. Some Dreams look like dead people because they were created by dreams of memories of people who are gone. The only thing they all have in common is a birthmark in the form of white lilies that must always be in a visible area of the body and cannot be hidden.
Nightmares, on the other hand, have frightening features, appearing to be straight out of horror movies or any kind of bad thoughts that can cause a person to panic, their eyes are like a deep and endless abyss, totally dark and in rare cases can be a deep light gray, it is said that those who stare at them for too long begin to have psychotic outbursts. Like Dreams their size can be small or medium, but because of their terrifying aura, some people have reported seeing giant Nightmares, having a humanoid form that resembles hideous creatures, and may have claws, horns, and even wings, which serve merely to make their form more macabre to be seen. Some Nightmares can end up having more distorted forms with more limbs or less limbs, causing even more strangeness to the creature.
History[edit]
Since the beginning of the universe the stars began to dream of life, the fertile imaginations of those little stars created oceans, grandiose vegetation, civilizations and kingdoms. Among them the realm of Dreaming, a place where any kind of dream or nightmare eventually comes true, the whole essence of any living creature that can have an imagination comes true in this world. A good dream about a loved one who is gone, a fairy godmother who visits you during your deep sleep, or even the worst of the totally formless monsters that can drive you mad, all are real and live in the realm of dreaming.
From the first star, Nova, came a thought: a man with eyes as deep as the abyss itself, his body was tall and slender with whitish skin and black spots that shone in a black light representing the stars in the depths of the universe, his hair seemed to be made of gaseous forms that involved small fragments of bismuth that changed color according to his emotions making curls in his scalp. This was known as Oniros The First Dream and King of Dreaming. His reign created peace in the construction of his kingdom, leaving an equality between all kinds of thoughts putting anyone who was created on the same level, this reign of peace lasted around 82659 millennia until the day known as The Fall, an event that completely changed the government of the dream, someone from this same kingdom or from another place in the universe ended up killing Oniros in an unknown way and with that completely removing the balance of the dream.
Currently without any leader, the Dreamlanders began to fight among themselves to conquer a place in their realm to live, trying to dominate and stay on top of weaker Dreamlanders. Those who could not adapt to the new way of living in this world began to transit to the real world, starting to live among the people who created them in search of a better life.
Society[edit]
The Dreamlander realm is divided into domains, these domains are places where everyone could have whatever they wanted, the stronger a Dreamlander is the more space in the Dreamlander realm he has, but with the great fall, some domains started to be destroyed starting a war. This caused the peaceful society to collapse, becoming a monarchy where the strongest rule over the weakest.
Some went to the real world, looking to fix their world and make it again the utopia it was before, or just looking for a better life.
