Broom Icon.svg.png This page needs grammatical help. Reason: Infernal indigestion's range is strangely worded, not like how 5e mechanics are, usually. So it covers all spaces within 5 feet of you? Is adept assailant supposed to specify swimming speed?

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: The ashen scales attempt of balancing immunity with a "weakness" is false balance. Boil over has an abnormal recharge compared to the usual rests or Xpb before needing a rest to use again. Resistance to bludgeoning for a race out the gate is not okay. The seismic slam is another weird attempt at false balancing by literally knocking you out for a turn, and not needing a recharge.

Drakeborn[edit]

"Just because a creature has cold hard scales, doesn't mean it's heart has the same temperature, for all we know it could burn like a furnace of passion!"

Physical Description[edit]

Drakeborn similar to their relatives the Dragonborn are Humanoid shaped creatures that resemble dragons, more specifically drakes. A common theme among them is of course, the scaled bodies, more animalistic heads, and claws and/or horns. A big difference, however, is that all species of Drakeborn have tails and they vary in use wildly. A Drakeborn takes special care of their tails, horns, and claws, and generally most of them can regenerate their tails after a couple days if ever chopped off. The Molten furnace species is notable for having darker color pallets in their scales and skin than the rest with minor exceptions. They do not always have a belly but it is a common trend among both genders to have a beer belly or even more sometimes due to them storing all of their magma they create inside a second stomach there. Their tails vary in size and shape but are generally tipped with a spike, arrowhead shaped tip, or Hardened club like structures. They tend to have sharp claws and anywhere between 2-8 horns adorning their head. The Marine reptile Subspecies tend to be more lithe and skinny compared to the other two known subspecies, but the occasional bulky giant can be found. Their tails tend to be fairly slim and have rows of fins, ending in large paddle like structures(usually fins). Their colors tend to incorparate blues and greens somewhere on their own body. Most of their body has vestegial fins on them and tend to have only 2-4 horns on them. The Bulky Boulder Subspecies forgoes having a breath attack for increase physical resistance and a strong tail. Their appearance is surprising to some because of their body proportions, as the tails generally exceed 60% of the bodies overall weight this tends to skyrocket their overall weight. To counteract this, they have evolved strong bones and a very interesting skin texture, Similar to that of Oobleck gently touching their skin tends to be very soft but if you strike it with force you are met with heavy resistance, even most sharpened weapons do not cut much if swung too quickly. Because of their softer skin, a lot of this Subspecies tend to be overweight, but thanks to their Strong bones and powerful muscles are capable of lugging themselves around. A good point of reference for the power of their tails, a 400 pound Bulky Boulder Drakeborn is going to have a 250+ pound tail, which is a huge load of muscles, fat, and bone coming down on someone. Color palletes vary more wildly than the other 2 subspecies and these drakeborn tend to have 2-6 horns.

History[edit]

The Drakeborn are considered by some to be extremely similar to Dragonborn, however, they tend to be more specialized than the dragonborn in specific things and abilities. The relationships they share with Dragonborns are fairly average, as the two races see eye to eye usually, probably because a Dragonborn sees a more common shape in a Drakeborn than a minotaur for example. Originally, Drakeborn Have similar origins to dragonborn, Some are results of spells or curses, others are naturally born from parents, and there are some who have even stranger origins such as races from underwater caves barely seen by man. Molten furnace species tend to Have origins nearby mountains and volcanos, Marine reptile species tend to hail for coastal towns and underwater caves and societies, and the Bulky boulder species tend to be from caves and mountainous areas.

Society[edit]

Drakeborn as mentioned above garner the same opinions from other races as Dragonborn. There are some that appreciate specific colors and subraces of the Drakeborn, however, such as the more Aquatic Marine Reptile Subrace. The Marine sub-race is very popular as they are adept swimmers and fishers, as well as still being generally reliable and trustworthy like Dragonborn races, though this can be attributed to the other Drakeborn Subspecies as well. Not all Drakeborn are as loyal to the beliefs of the Dragonborn, due to their tribes tending to be smaller or living in more interracial cities they don't always see eye to eye with their own species on every belief. The Molten Furnace subspecies tend to be good friends with dwarves, cyclopes, and other more rugged species that have a passion for metals and smithing. This obviously comes from their ability to be a mobile forge if used correctly, which is a godsend for a traveling blacksmith and a very unique convenience for them on the go. In other societies, however, this subspecies always has somebodies' eye on them, especially in elven societies in forests. This is because if the creature burps or accidentally(or purposefully) lets out a some lava it can set the nearby area on fire and is not ideal in flamable settlements if this every occurs. The Marine Reptile subspecies is generally liked nearby fishing villages and coastal cities. Other parts of the world could care less and generally see them as similar to dragonborn. In the fishing societies they are great fishermen as they can swim out and catch bigger fish in their claws and jaws, which is a great spectacle to watch. The Bulky Boulder subspecies is probably the most neutral in terms of other creatures opinions and likes. They tend to be Guards, Hired workers, and sometimes even gladiators. They tend to be very large in size overall so they get in the way sometimes of other people, especially their tails, though when telling one to move don't insult their weight or you might find yourself sailing backwards into the nearest hard object.

Molten Furnace[edit]

This Subspecies of Drakeborn have a unique biological factor that makes them similar in the eyes of others to fire breathing dragonborn. Instead of a Fiery breathe, however, They Vomit up copious amounts of lava. To do this regularly they tend to eat many different kinds of rock found throughout their day, though they can slowly produce it passively this speed up the process. Almost any type of mineral works too as it all gets super heated inside a subset of their stomach. Infernal Indigestion. This Subspecies can vomit up a pool of lava at their feet. This covers their square and every square around that one in Extremely hot lava for 15 minutes, the lava deals 2d6 fire damage every turn to any creature in it that isn't immune to fire. This attack cannot be used again till after a short or long rest.
Ashen Scales. You have an incredible resistance to heat, leading to a fire immunity, however, all the heat you store up makes you more sensitive when something very cold hits you leading to a Cold weakness.

Marine Reptile[edit]

This Subspecies of Drakeborn are very adept swimmers, owing to Large lungs and fins adorning their body. They hail from seaside villages but can be found inland while adventuring or doing trade business.

Deep Breaths. This creature can hold their breathe for up to 1 hour. This lets them hold their breathe underwater for long periods of time, and even on land there are some specific uses such as avoiding a deadly gas.
Adept Assailant. This creature has a speed of 60 feet while in water. It can also leap out of water that distance as well.
Boil over. This Drake can store Water inside a separate heated organ for later use, This can be discharged violently in a straight line dealing 2d6 acid damage + your Wisdom modifier, however, after being used more than 2 times in a 2 hour time frame you gain a stack of exhaustion. It can also be used for other purposes such as watering plants or for putting in a pot to cook.

Bulky Boulder[edit]

This Subspecies of Drakeborn have an even more ground based figure than any other Drakeborn or dragonborn, Infact they generally weigh way more thanks to bulkier frames, including their tails which they have evolved to use over a form of Breath attack. The tails can be so heavy they can almost out weight the entire body, but thankfully can be used to rest on usually.

Resistant Carapace.. Similar to the material Oobleck, your skin is very resistant to hard impacts giving you resistance to bludgeoning damage. This trait also gives you 1 health point per level as well, with the drawback of being cut down to 25 movespeed and due to your own bulk having -1 to sneaky.
Large Lash. This creature has an absurdly strong and bulky tail which it can use to make specific attacks. Swing your tail into an enemy with great forcing knocking them back 20 feet and dealing 1d4 bludgeoning + your Strength modifier.
Seismic slam. As a Show of force, your creature heaves Their tail and brings it straight down on an enemies head proning them and dealing 2d6 bludgeoning + your Strength modifier to them on a failed save and half as much on a successful one(CON save), you are however incapacitated on your next turn. This attack requires a short or long rest to be used again as it takes a lot of strength out of you. The damage increase to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th, and 5d6 at 16th level.
