Dragon Slayer Conclave[edit]
Ranger Subclass
Dragon Slayer by Victor Lozada |
Rangers from the conclave of dragon slayers are specialists in killing the most dangerous creatures in the material plane, the dragons. These rangers are capable of using their natural magic to endure the devastating elemental power from these leviathans or to limit their ability to escape or maneuver around them, by hindering their movement. They can pass through the heightened senses of dragons undetected, and can resist the terrifying presence of dragons by relying in nothing more than bravery and grit.
- Conclave Spells
You gain conclave spells at the ranger levels listed:
Ranger Level | Spells |
---|---|
3rd | absorb elements |
5th | earthbind |
9th | protection from energy |
13th | greater invisibility |
17th | hold monster |
- Dungeon Stalker
Starting at 3rd level, your movement and senses have adapted to wander through the dragon's lair undetected. You gain a darkvision of 60 feet. If you already have darkvision, its range increases by 30 feet.
In addition, you can use your bonus action to make a Dexterity (Stealth) check, contested by your target's Wisdom (Perception), to attempt to conceal your presence from a creature that is unable to see you. On a success, you are considered unseen by that creature, until you make an attack against it, force it to make a saving throw, or until you enter the field of vision of that creature.
You can use this bonus action even if the creature is capable of perceiving you relying on senses other than sight (such as blindsight or tremorsense).
- Grounding Strikes
At 3rd level, you can stop your mighty foes to escape or use their movement at their advantage. Once per turn, when you cause damage with a weapon attack, you cause additional 1d6 damage and force the target to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier). The damage increases to 2d6 at 11th level.
On a failed save, the target has any movement speed that is not its walking speed reduced to 0, until the end of its next turn. A creature that is flying moves up to 60 feet gently towards the ground, not taking fall damage. A climbing creature can't continue moving, but doesn't fall.
- Ruthless Bravery
Starting at 7th level, you can bravely stand the frightening presence of dragons. You are immune to the frightened condition.
In addition, this bravery can make dragons to second guess themselves. Whenever a creature would force you to make a saving throw against this condition (such as casting a cause fear against you, or when you enter in the radius of an effect that causes this condition), the creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC, or is frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
Once a creature succeeds the save against this effect, the target is immune to it for the next 24 hours.
- Legendary Reaction
At 11th level, you are a master at facing legendary foes. Whenever a creature within 60 feet of you uses a legendary action or legendary resistance, you can make an attack against that creature, without using an action.
- Dragon-breath Endurance
When you reach the 15th level, whenever you are forced to make a Dexterity or Constitution saving throw to reduce the damage of an effect to half, you take no damage on a success, and only half damage on a failure.
