Cleric Weapon Proficiency[edit]
I was just wondering if anyone else does this with their cleric's when running a campaign. I always allow any cleric to be automatically proficient in thier Diety's Preffered weapon, regardless of the weapon. The reason behind it, if a person has dedicated thier live to serving a particular diety and follow the teachings, it does not make sense to me that they would not learn to use the diety's weapon. Does anyone see a flaw or problem with this thought?

- I don't think it follows that all clerics of a particular deity will become proficient with that weapon; for some it may just be symbolic. Vaishnavites don't run around with maces and chakras. Clerics get simple weapon proficiency already, and if their deity has a martial weapon they are likely to have the war domain available anyway. Otherwise you might get players saying "Well, my deity's weapon is this exotic weapon, so I get that proficiency for free." Marasmusine (talk) 00:54, 19 October 2012 (MDT)
