Previous Edition Inclusion[edit]

I was looking for user input on whether or not everyone thinks we could benefit from including sections of the site dedicated to homebrew material from the editions before 3.5? PlanetADND has a little AD&Dwiki that they're doing, and I think we could pull in an entirely different user crowd to assist with the inclusion of these older editions. Thoughts?

The only issues I foresee are A) Are there enough people who still actively play 1st/2nd Edition to make it worthwhile to dedicate a portion of the site to those version of the game; and B) Is there enough homebrew material for those versions that there would be more than just a couple pages on the Wiki?

There is actually an amazingly large sect of individuals who exclusively play using the old editions, especially AD&D. Mostly older individuals who grew up on those particular sets of rules (I can see myself being like this with 3.5 in a post 4th world...). As far as B, if we do like the site as a whole did when it first started and ask users of sites dedicated to old editions to put their stuff here or for permission to copy it (something I wouldn't mind to do over time) then I believe it will grow slowly but steadily.

Sure. Please start by transcribing the SRD3e:System Reference Document. Please keep in mind to use breadcrumbs and categories as posted on the bottom. Please refrain from non-OGL templates as well (it is much cleaner when it is organized like that).
Given time I will add all the editions. I found the 3e SRD and was planning on posting that; if people are willing to help transcribe it.

Sounds great. I'll begin compiling this evening. I'll also get in touch with some of the AD&D and other previous edition community sites to let them know they can add content / ask permission to copy user material, etc. etc. Should I MOI them to you or will you just be watching so they can be locked up from non-admins once they're up, like the other editions?

I would love to see some AD&D on here. Class kits were the shit! ah, Rangers starting with an extra hit die, and add the assassian kit so you were the equivilent of a gestalted Ranger/rogue. yay for x5 backstab multiplier and god whose weapons are dealing 3-30 damage :P I hope to see a bunch of stuff eventually

If someone wants to start working on the 3e landing page (3e Homebrew) please feel free. Or on the AD&D landing page (AD&D Homebrew), etc. Or sometime or other we could even get around to making chainmail be present here as well. It all just takes some work; please feel to help to by the way.

About to begin the 3e SRD process and had a quick question. On the 3.5e SRD page, all the SRD links are titled in non-edition-specific ways (i.e. SRD:Basics). How would you like me to label all the 3e SRD pages? SRD:3e Basics or SRD:Basics (3e) or ...????
Green Dragon 13:15, 25 September 2009 (MDT)[edit]
The namespace of the 3e SRD should be SRD3e. Once the 3e SRD is added the 3.5e SRD namespace can be changed to SRD3.5e.

Noted. Will do it as quickly as I can (though it is the weekend - so may not see much for a day or so). I think focusing on 3.0 first, then slowly working backwards through the editions will provide an easy "path/goal/focus" to help facilitate the assembly of the additional content.

I began on just the first few, will continue this evening. In the meantime please let me know any changes I need to do or anything I have done incorrectly so that I don't continue to do it and make cleanup any harder.
