I have a 24th level barbarian and he's really awesome, but I was thinking about taking him in new directions... Any thoughts?

Which edition? (4e or 3.5e)

24th level already? Amazing. You can really go anywhere at this point. What playstyles do you prefer, and what party role do you like to fulfill?

25th now!!! As for playstyles, I mostly prefer to kick ass first and take names later, but I also like to rescue the fair maiden and save the day. For party roles, frontline combatant and smasher of bad guys! I like to be in the thick of the action protecting the spellcasters (especially the clerics!) so they can heal me when I'm at the brink of death. I also like the protecting of the innocent and righter of wrongs type stuff. I was thinking about some kind of spellcaster but there are the spell failure issues... I've also got good armor and weapons and attack bonuses and stuff so another fighter-type class isn't really necessary, so I'm not just not sure what to do...

I find a fun class to multiclass in for the barbarian is the drunken master in the complete warriors.
