Discussion:Mounted Combat Damage Multipliers...
From D&D Wiki
[edit]
So I have a question concerning how multipliers stack, and then what is multiplied when using various feats and abilities for mounted charges. So lets lay down an example.
I have a level 4 fighter with the following specifications:
Feats/Items:Power Attack, Leap Attack, Spirited Charge, a Valorous Lance, and Riding boots
Spirited Charge gives x2 dmg on a charge, a Lance gives x2 on a charge, Valorous gives x2 on a charge, and Riding boots gives x2 on a charge.
My knowledge of stacking rules dictates that this comes out to a x5 dmg multiplier.
Lets say I am also throwing in a full power attack, so with a two handed weapon I am looking at +8 dmg (-4 to BAB). Now leap attack triples damage for two handed power attacks. Does this mean it multiplies the BASE DMG? As in 4x3=16. Or does it multiply the damage MODIFIED by POWER ATTACK already, as in 8x3=24.
Finally I have a STR of 18, so I have a +4 modifier, and with a two handed weapon(x1 1/2) that becomes +6 dmg.
Assuming my multipliers are correct (which they may not be), what is multiplied by the x5 dmg multiplier from Spirited Charge, the Valorous Lance, and the Riding Boots?
Is it only weapon damage? Is it weapon damage+STR? Weapon damage+STR+PA?
Thank you very much for any help!

I would guess that it would be Weapon damage+STR+PA, since it's basically adding more strength to your attack and you add str before multiplying on criticals. Mounted combat requires a lot of feats to be effective, so I say enjoy your newfound ability to munch anything that challenges you on an open field.

Did I miss somthing? The boots say that when you have the Spirited Charge feat any charge attack that you make when mounted deals x4 damage on a crit (in place of x3). So either the math is wrong or all the multipliers activate on a crit. I choose the first option. xXDHXx
