I need some help creating a character. I'm basically trying to recreate H. H. Holmes (serial killer who had a hotel full of trap rooms to kill people in many ways) in D&D, and I wanna know what would be the best race and class for this. I was thinking a charismatic race (to lure people in) like a changeling, and maybe a class that could either cast lots of abjuration spells (or any other spell that could be used as a trap) or some sort of inventor/tinkers to craft traps, instead of cast them. Can anyone recommend what would be the best combination of class & race? NB I'd prefer it if the character was a magical class, but I'll go with whatever's best.

Rogue, if you want magic to lure people in and decieve them with illusions, choose the Arcane Trickster archetype. A half-elf would be good as they get extra charisma, or a gnome as they have high intelligence which will make your magic better.
