I'm that kind of nerd who enjoys going on really deep wiki dives in order to classify a whole bunch of languages that do not exist. Based on a *lot* of data from the 5e Forgotten Realms wiki, a little bit of headcanon (though even that is of the "educated guess" variety), and my own passing knowledge of linguistics, I managed to create a mostly-complete phylogenetic tree of the languages of the Forgotten Realms. Some 40 or 50 languages (out of close to 200) are unclassified because I couldn't find any phylogenetic information on them, or that information is self-contradictory.

So, my question is: if I want to put that on this wiki, where would I do it? I'm very new to this wiki, and I've been browsing around the 5e homebrew categories but nothing seems to fit. This isn't a new rule, or even a story per se - it's just a neat worldbuilding element that might serve as a jumping-off point for other linguistics-minded DMs. Which category does something like this belong in?

If you don't see a place to put it, there is always 5e Other. I personally don't think it fits into any place very well, so 5e Other is probably your best bet. I will say, though, if you're importing stuff from a real-world setting into the Wiki, be careful. It's possible for the wiki to get sued because of importing paid content into free homebrew articles. I think you'll be okay with just a language phylogenetic tree, but tread lightly around this kind of stuff. --MarshDASavage (talk) 16:01, 12 October 2021 (MDT)
