Discussion:Are Mind Flayers to Psions as Rakshasa are to Sorcerers?

I'm currently designing a campaign where Mind Flayers (Illithids) are a constant, prominent feature. As they are considered naturally psionically gifted, I wish to allow psionics in this campaign, which is a first for me.

Rakshasa also will feature heavily in the campaign, and the Monster Manual states that they are treated as 7th-level Sorcerers, which stacks with Sorcerer levels.

This being the case, would it be reasonable to conclude (and include) that Mind Flayers are treated as psions in a similar manner?

I'd love to hear thoughts on the matter, as the Expanded Psionics Handbook offers nothing for "Mind Flayers as characters" on the matter.
