Dire apes live in primeval jungles and eat a variety of fruits and leaves, but they also eat insects and hunt smaller animals, sometimes including other primates. They're social animals who live in groups and are highly intelligent. Dire apes are ordinarily reclusive but can become aggressive, especially if their territory is disturbed or they are provoked by hunters.
Some say that the dire apes are the reincarnations of ancient warriors.
