Desert Thunderstorm
Technique
Level: Sandbender 9
Casting time: 1 round
Range: Personal
Effect: a large thunder cloud made of sand
Duration: 1 round / technician level
Saving Throw: Reflex half
Spell Resistance: No

Technique Points Required: 17

Streaming up into the air 50 feet, swirling around you like a tornado, your attuned sand forms into an enormous thundercloud above you. Converting some of the ground on its way up into sand, the cloud manages to reach a radius of 100 feet, and a height of 20 feet. The first round after the technique's been used, lightning can be seen in the cloud and thunder can be heard. Each round afterwords, creatures under the cloud have a 25% chance at the beginning of their turn (50% if standing) to be hit by a lightning bolt as effective as desert lightning cast at half your level. This bolt shatters a small portion of the ground and knocks those within 5 feet of it prone, throwing them 5 feet away from the bolt.

By expending an additional 5 technique points you may expand the radius of the cloud by another 20 feet. This may be done any number of times.

You may spend no more than twice your technician level in additional technique points on this technique.

Material Component: 20 cubic feet of Attuned Sand

Note: This spell isn't part of all Sandbender's Technique List, you can only learn this Technique if you have the Wielder of the White Sand Class Feature.
