Demonic Gunslinger[edit]

Demonic guns are cursed weapons made in the abyss, capable of channeling the raw chaotic power of the demonic plane to unleash devastation with each shot. Wielders of such devices of destruction are known as Demonic Gunslingers, mortals that come in contact with such weapons and, by choice or fate, become bound to them.

These guns have been created by the demon lords, with the purpose of using the bloodthirst of mortals to increase their own power. These guns do so through their ability of harvesting souls: a creature killed by this gun have its soul stolen by it, and that soul has the double purpose of empowering the gun itself, and after used by the gunslinger, is tainted, and sent to the Demon Lord bound to it.

For this reason, each Demonic Gunslinger is an agent - willingly or not - to the demonic lord bound to the weapon, and each kill by the gun is a sacrifice in the name of that lord. Hence, the path of a demonic gunslinger is a dark one, and even though many of them are not necessarily evil nor are servants of the darkness, they work as tools for those eldritch powers.

Creating a Demonic Gunslinger[edit]

You can create a demonic gunslinger by answering these questions: first, how did you gain your demonic guns? Did you found them when exploring a demonic temple, received from a cult you are part off, or maybe forged a pact with a demon lord in order to achieve some personal goal? Many demonic gunslingers are direct agents of demon lords, but it is not unheard of gunslingers that became bound to their guns by accident, or in an act of desperation to accomplish a personal goal.

This leads to the second important question: why did you chose (if you did choose) to become a demonic gunslinger? Do you serve your demon lord aiming for a reward in the afterlife, becoming one of its high ranking servants in the abyss? You concern yourself only with your mortal life, and aim to extend it as long as possible to the power of harvesting mortal souls? Do you seek revenge for an injustice done to you?

Soul Cartridge[edit]

At 1st level, you use special metallic cylinders inscribed with a demonic glyph and a spell that can entrap souls to be used by your demonic guns called Soul Cartridges.

Crafting a Soul Cartridge

Using the tinker's tools, you can spend 1 sp and 10 minutes to craft a single cartridge. After crafting the cartridge, you must spend 15 gp and an additional 10 minutes to craft the soul binding spell.

An empty soul cartridge without the soul binding spell can be fueled with gunpowder and be used as a regular cartridge.

Trapping Souls

Whenever a creature that has a soul within 30 feet of you is reduced to 0 hit points, you can absorb that soul on the cartridge. The target's soul can make a Charisma saving throw against a DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier to avoid being trapped.

Maximum Number of Soul Cartridges

You can carry an amount of Soul Cartridges up to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

Demonic Arsenal[edit]

Starting at 1st level, you are bound to the arsenal of your demonic lord on the abyss, being able to call upon weapons from it.

You start being able to call upon the Demonic Pistol using a Bonus Action, and gain access to additional weapons as you gain levels in this class. You can dismiss the demonic guns conjured also using a bonus action, and the gun also disappears back to the abyss if it pass 1 minute outside your grasp or if held by another creature.

Loading the Demonic Gun

You can load demonic guns with regular empty cartridges or fueled soul cartridges. A single soul can power the gun for 24 hours.

Demonic Essence[edit]

At 2nd level, you can produce a viscous and seemingly alive fluid called Demonic Essence, which can be used as a source of ammunition to your demonic guns. You can produce an amount of Demonic Essence equal to your proficiency bonus. Any Demonic Essence unspent disappear, returning to the abyss after 8 hours have passed.

Abyssal Pact[edit]

Starting at 3rd level, you choose your abyssal pact, that determines the nature of the pact you forge with the demon lords. You can choose between the Pact of the Soulbringer or the Pact of the Vengeful, all detailed at the end of the class description. Your chosen pact grants you features at 3rd level, and again at 6th, 10th and 14th levels.

Pact of the Soulbringer[edit]

Tasked with collecting souls to empower their demon lords, the soulbringers have been given the power of the demon guns to act as agents of their lords in the material plane. They kill mortals, sending their souls to the abyss, and also carry out duties, eliminating enemies of their demon lords.

Demonic Arsenal[edit]

Demonic Pistol

The demonic pistol causes 1d8 piercing with the empty cartridge, or 1d8 necrotic with the soul cartridge. The range is 60/180 feet, and the pistol can be wielded in one hand.
