Demon - Variant, Kimetsu no Yaiba (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Demon - Variant, Kimetsu no Yaiba[edit]
“The one thing I hate is "change". Changes in circumstances. Changes in body. Changes in emotion. In most cases, every change is "degradation". It is decline. The one thing I like is "permanence". If something doesn't change for an eternity. It's in a perfect state.” -Demon Progenitor
Demons are a carnivorous, vampire-like species whose primary diet is humans. They are also nocturnal as they are weak to sunlight, though they can stay up during the day as they don't require sleep. Demons have an abnormally powerful physical constitution and potent regenerative abilities, making them immune to normal weaponry and granting them the ability to heal from any wound with ease, even re-growing their head should it be cut off or destroyed.
Physical Description[edit]
Demons have an abnormally powerful physical constitution and potent regenerative abilities. Making them all but immune to normal weaponry, and granting them the ability to heal from any wound with ease, even re-growing their head.
History[edit]
The first Demon of this kind had no connection to extraplanar entities from either the Positive, Negative, or Outer planes. Little is known on exactly why or how It came to be. Just that one day, They did not exist, and the next They did.
It is assumed, based on how the rest of this unnatural and wretched Race, that the Progenitor was originally of another Race, but underwent a Transformation at the hands of some kind of experiment. Whether it be an experimental medical treatment gone wrong, scientific or institutional curiosity turned disaster, or even a curse of some kind remains unknown. All that is certain of their history, is that these "Demons", as they came to be called by those inexperienced with the denizens from outside the Material Plane, can only be created by exposure to the Progenitor's Blood.
Culture[edit]
Created and transformed, whether willing or by force, by the Demon Progenitor, all Demons hold Their attention and approval in the highest regard, most even going so far as to declare the Progenitor a Deity.
Seeking Praise[edit]
As such, they seek to grow stronger and "win" or "earn" the Progenitor's attention by any means necessary. And their Progenitor is vile enough that most denizens of the Lower planes look upon Them in disgust.
The Endless Hunt[edit]
As a result of their desire to earn attention and approval, they compete and fight near-constantly, unable to kill each other as only their Progenitor, Sunlight, select Poisons, and Divine-blessed metals are able to cause permanent harm. As warped as they are, most can only grow stronger through eating. The more they eat, the stronger they become. And yet the stronger they become, the more they need to eat in order to make it to the next tier of strength.
Appearance[edit]
Nearly Humanoid[edit]
Freshly transformed or disguised, these Beings are nearly indistinguishable from their non-altered, racial counterparts, though there is always one or two features that are out of place. Such as overly sharp or discolored nails, unnaturally pale skin/scales/fur, and strangely shaped pupils.
As they grow in power, they follow one of two paths.
Humanoid[edit]
Those that follow this particular morphic branch still hold the majority of features of whatever base race they were before their transformation, but with a handful of features that show their unnatural nature.
These features can vary from something as simple as; curved horns, prominent fangs, multiple eyes, pointed ears, unnaturally colored sclera, or special markings that resemble birthmarks or tattoos that appear somewhere on their bodies to things as complex as entire weapons, instruments, clothing, and various other objects can be seen.
Abomination[edit]
Those that follow this morphic branch hold little similarity to their base race other than a vaguely similar body build and size.
These particular Demons are heavily mutated and warped, with mutations that can range from multiple appendages, disfigured bodies, and morphed faces. Some demons are more monstrous and animalistic, while some are more abstract and eldritch.
Abilities[edit]
All Demons share a few Base Abilities and Curses.
Ageless Immortality[edit]
You are unable to die of disease or age, regardless of your original Race.
Enhanced Physical Capabilities[edit]
Your Size can vary from Small to Large, with most being Medium. Because of your enhanced physical capabilities, you count as one Size larger for encumbrance and spells that depend on weight class.
You gain 3 Strength or Dexterity and 2 Strength or Constitution with minus 2 Intelligence.
You do not need to sleep.

Whenever your Hit points are below maximum, you heal 4+Character Leveld6 at the start of each turn you are below maximum Hit points.
Shapeshifting[edit]
Starting at level two, you can change your cosmetic appearance if you are of the Humanoid morphic branch or if you are of the Abomination morphic branch, you gain the ability to look as though you were of the Humanoid Morphic branch.
Treat this ability as a concentration spell. You are able to do this for 1+Intelligence modifier+Character level hours.
Enhanced Senses[edit]
As Nocturnal Hunters, Demons possess great sensory capabilities. Choose two that are not Darkvision:
Darkvision. The ability to see even when there is no light, at the cost of being near-blind in anything resembling Sunlight.
Enhanced Hearing. You gain the Alert feat in regards to your prey and others of your kind.
Proficiency in Perception.
Proficiency in Arcana. With advantage on rolls to register what magic is being used within 60ftxCharacter Level.
Proficiency in Insight. With advantage on rolls related to your prey and kind.
The feat Blindsight. In any lighting other than Daylight.
Accellerated Growth[edit]
Demons grow at tremendously rapid rates, dependent on the number of humanoids they have consumed and the amount of Demon Progenitor Blood they have assimilated. This allows even the weakest of humanoids, like Kobolds or Goblins, to become one of the most powerful Demons in mere months. As a result, Demons are able to reach further heights that are all but impossible to attain unaltered, as long as they keep assimilating Progenitor Blood and consuming humanoids. Some Demons, however, have a limit to how much they can use to grow stronger, and they might be not compatible with a higher amount of the Progenitor's Blood and die if they don't consume enough humanoids.
For each meal you eat, you gain either 1 Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution and losing 2 of the same Ability_Scores for each meal missed.
<br.
Each level you may gain 5+2d4 additional Temporary hit points that are replenished each long rest, provided you ate 1+1d4 days of food.

You roll with advantage on any Indimidation roll when this trait is active.

Those who share blood with are able to send and receive thoughts and memories to other they are Linked with.
To create a Link with a creature that does not share your Race, you need to perform a Ritual where you share your blood with another willing creature. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw or turn into a Demon themselves.
Supernatural Blood[edit]
At level three, you choose one Spell of your choice from any Class of your choosing up to Spell level 8. You may treat this Spell as though you have the Sorcerer's Metamagic ability.
To cast, you will use 3d4 Hit points for a non-offensive use, and Spell Damage DiexSpell Level Hit points for an offensive use.
If you are making Death Saving Throws, you can forfeit all successes to deal your maximum Hit Points in damage in a 10ftxCharacter Level radius, centered on your body.

You cannot regenerate so long as the poison is in your system.
After the poison has left your system, you can regenerate at 4+Character Leveld6 divided by two until healed or you eat 3+1d4 days of food

Should you fail to provide entertainment, fail to fulfil a mission given to you by the Progenitor, simply fail to grow stronger, or provide information on the Progenitor, your Regeneration will fail to work and all other Demon-given abilities and skills will slowly fail to work.

Regeneration is doubled. Choose a third Enhanced Senses trait. Your shapeshifting automatically becomes indefinite, you have advantage on all concentration saving throws to keep your appearance, and if you are an Abomination, you gain the Shapeshifting ability of the Humanoid morph in addition to your own.
