Deigen[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

A God of War, Preparing for a Battle.

The Deigen are mortals in form but divine in essence, their bodies flawless and subtly otherworldly. Their eyes glow faintly, their voices carry an unnatural authority, and their features often reflect their former godhood, whether a war god’s imposing stature or a trickster’s ever-shifting appearance. While they resemble mortals, small details, like shimmering skin, glowing veins, or hair that moves without wind, betray their celestial origins. Though bound by flesh, their presence is undeniable, as if the material world itself struggles to contain their divinity.

History[edit]

The Deigen were once gods, now reduced to mortal existence. Whether they were cast down as punishment, chose to relinquish their divinity, or fell due to some unknown cosmic event, their days of true godhood are long past. Though they still retain fragments of their former power, they are far from the deities they once were. Some Deigen seek to reclaim what was lost, pursuing ancient knowledge or remnants of divine energy in the hopes of ascending once more. Others have come to accept their fate, living among mortals and forging new identities. A few even see their fall as a test of character, believing that their struggles in this lesser form serve a greater purpose. Throughout history, Deigen have left their mark in various ways, some as rulers and conquerors, others as scholars, prophets, or wanderers. Their presence often unsettles those around them, as if something about them lingers just beyond mortal understanding. Whether feared, respected, or distrusted, a Deigen rarely fades into the background.

Society[edit]

The Deigen have no singular culture or homeland, as their origins are diverse and their ambitions deeply personal. Each one carries their own purpose, whether it be reclaiming lost power, uncovering the truth of their fall, or simply surviving in a world that sees them as something other than mortal. Some gather followers, forming cults or noble lineages that venerate their past divinity. These groups may see them as prophets, lost deities, or figures of legend, offering loyalty in hopes of glimpsing the power they once wielded. Others walk their path alone, shunning mortal attachments as they seek knowledge, vengeance, or meaning in their diminished state. Regardless of where they go, Deigen tend to command attention. Their presence often stirs unease or reverence, as mortals instinctively sense something unusual about them, something not entirely of this world. While some find acceptance in existing civilizations, they rarely linger in one place for long, always drawn forward by a purpose only they truly understand.

Deigen Names[edit]

Deigen names are often remnants of their former godhood, though some adopt mortal names to blend in. Their names may be grand and celestial or simple and unassuming, depending on their views of their new existence.

Deigen of Authority[edit]

Once gods of rulership, law, and divine decree, the Deigen of Authority were beings of absolute command. Their voices shaped reality, their will determined the fates of nations, and their presence alone inspired loyalty or terror. Though stripped of their divinity, they still radiate power, drawing others to them as leaders, monarchs, or tyrants. Some seek to reclaim their lost dominions, forging kingdoms in their image, while others impose their law upon the world as judges, warlords, or enforcers of cosmic balance. Wherever they walk, mortals instinctively sense their authority, an echo of the sovereignty they once held.

Fallen Deigen[edit]

The Fallen Deigen were once gods of endurance, suffering, and perseverance, deities who either defied the divine order or were cast down for crimes long forgotten. Their punishment has become their strength, forging them into beings of unyielding will. Unlike others who lament their loss, the Fallen endure, turning their pain into resilience. Some seek redemption, believing their suffering to be a trial they must overcome to regain their place among the divine. Others embrace their fall, walking the world as immortal wanderers, outcasts, or vengeful spirits who refuse to be broken. To them, mortality is not a curse, but a test of will, one they refuse to fail.

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1.
Enduring Mortality. You gain proficiency in one saving throw of your choice.

Ascendant Deigen[edit]

Once gods of knowledge, prophecy, and cosmic insight, the Ascendant Deigen see their exile not as an end, but as a challenge. Even in their diminished state, they seek to unravel the great mysteries of the universe, searching for lost fragments of their former power. Some walk the path of scholars, mages, or oracles, peering into realms beyond mortal comprehension. Others dedicate themselves to ascension, believing that through wisdom, magic, or sheer determination, they can reclaim their place among the gods. Whether as guiding lights or distant, enigmatic figures, the Ascendant Deigen shape the world through intellect and understanding, always chasing the echoes of their former divinity.

Wrathborn Deigen[edit]

Born from gods of war, vengeance, and destruction, the Wrathborn Deigen burn with an unquenchable fury. Whether they fell in battle or were cast down for their uncontrollable rage, they now walk the mortal world as living weapons, their every action a testament to their unyielding power. Some live for war, seeking out conflict wherever it may arise, while others exact vengeance on those they believe wronged them, their wrath spanning generations. Though stripped of godhood, their presence ignites fear and awe, for even in exile, they embody destruction incarnate. To cross a Wrathborn Deigen is to invoke a storm of divine fury, one that few survive.

Veilborn Deigen[edit]

Once gods of fate, shadows, and the unseen, the Veilborn Deigen exist on the fringes of reality, their fall leaving them caught between worlds. Even in exile, they remain tethered to hidden forces, sensing what others cannot. Some walk unseen paths, unraveling the threads of destiny, while others manipulate fate itself, guiding events from the shadows. Their motives are often inscrutable, as they speak in riddles, foresee moments yet to come, and drift through the world like ghosts of forgotten divinity. Whether as prophets, tricksters, or silent watchers, the Veilborn Deigen are never truly gone, merely waiting for the right moment to reemerge.

Soulveil Step. As a bonus action, you can become incorporeal until the end of your turn, allowing you to move through objects and creatures as if they were difficult terrain. If you end your turn inside an object, you are immediately shunted to the nearest unoccupied space, taking force damage equal to twice the number of feet moved. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
