A Deiara of War, Preparing for the Hunt. |
Deiara bear the unmistakable mark of divine heritage, their forms sculpted to near-perfection as though molded by celestial hands. Their very presence commands attention, whether through an ethereal glow that lingers about their skin or the subtle hum of divine energy woven into their being. Their eyes often shimmer with unnatural hues, golden irises that burn like molten sunlight, silver pupils that reflect the heavens, or deep violet pools that hint at cosmic wisdom. Some possess faint halos that flicker in and out of existence, or skin that seems to defy imperfection, unnaturally smooth and unmarred by time or hardship. Their hair, whether flowing like liquid gold or dark as the void between stars, sometimes carries a soft luminescence, catching the moonlight with an otherworldly shimmer. Even their voices set them apart; some carry a resonance that stirs the soul, each word infused with a weight that lingers in the air, while others speak in tones so soothing or commanding that mortals instinctively listen. These traits, subtle or pronounced, mark them as beings apart from ordinary mortals, living embodiments of divine will, walking among the lesser realms with an aura that inspires reverence, awe, or, in some, deep unease.
History[edit]
The Deiara are not born in the conventional sense but are instead woven into existence by the will of gods, shaped from mortal flesh and infused with celestial essence. Some are the direct offspring of divine and mortal unions, the result of an affair between a god and a fleeting lover, their blood carrying the raw power of their celestial parentage. Others are chosen from among mortals and transformed, granted their divine nature through ascension, blessings, or even as a test of their worth. Some arise as champions, blessed in recognition of their deeds, while others are cursed with their status, forever marked by a god’s whims or displeasure. The nature of their creation often defines their path; some are raised in celestial courts, basking in divine wisdom, while others grow up among mortals, never truly belonging, their power an alien thing in the world of the ordinary. Some Deiara accept their role as divine agents, moving as their gods' hands upon the mortal plane, while others reject their celestial blood, striving to carve their own fates. Regardless of their origins, each Deiara’s existence is a living testament to the gods’ influence upon the world, their deeds often echoing through legend long after their time has passed.
Society[edit]
Deiara do not form a singular culture or civilization of their own, as their divine origins are too varied, and their destinies too scattered. Some grow up among mortals, raised as warriors, nobles, or even peasants, their celestial nature revealing itself only in whispers and rumors. Others are reared in celestial courts or divine sanctuaries, raised by the hands of angels, demigods, or priests who seek to guide them toward their greater purpose. A few live as wanderers, unbound by mortal ties, their journey defined by the endless search for meaning in their existence. Wherever they go, mortals react with a mixture of reverence and fear, some bow before them as living emissaries of the gods, while others shun them as harbingers of fate’s cruel machinations. Many Deiara find solace only in one another, for only their own kind truly understand the burden of their ancestry. When two Deiara meet, there is an unspoken kinship between them, a shared weight of expectation and destiny that neither mortal nor god can fully grasp. Whether embraced or rejected, their divine blood ensures they will never be ordinary, forever caught between the realms of mortals and gods.
