Defiler

Cleric Subclass

Once a devoted cleric, you fell in battle only to be resurrected by dark, necrotic forces. Now an undead warrior, you walk the earth bound to serve a sinister master, wielding the power of both divine and necromantic magic. Clad in heavy armor that feels more like a burden than protection, you command the forces of undeath. You summon lost souls to fight by your side, harnessing the energy of death itself. Though you still hold remnants of your former faith, your divine connection is now twisted, feeding on the power of the grave. Your existence is a constant struggle between the will of your dark master and your own desire for redemption or revenge. Will you embrace the path of destruction, or will you seek to break free from the chains of undeath?

Prepared for war

When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain proficiency with martial weapons and heavy armor.

Reaper

At 1st level, you learn one necromancy cantrip of your choice from any spell list. When you cast a necromancy cantrip that normally targets only one creature, the spell can instead target two creatures within range and within 5 feet of each other.

Channel Divinity: Conjure Dead

Starting at 2nd level, as a bonus action, you can spend one use of your Channel Divinity to conjure an undead creature. That undead creature behaves as if animated by the animate dead spell. The undead vanishes after 1 minute, or after being destroyed, whichever happens first.

The undead summoned depends on your level, as shown on the table below:

Cleric Level Undead Conjured CR
2nd 1/4
5th 1/2
8th 1
10th 2
14th 3
17th 4

Necrotic Strike

At 6th level, you gain the ability to infuse your weapon strikes with necrotic energy. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target. When you reach 11th level, the extra damage increases to 2d8.

Lord of the Undead

At 8th level, you gain resistance to necrotic damage and you add the Animate Dead spell to your prepared spells if it is not there already. When you cast Animate Dead, you can target one additional corpse or pile of bones, creating another zombie or skeleton, as appropriate.

Whenever you create an undead, it has additional benefits:

-The creature's hit point maximum is increased by an amount equal to your cleric level.

-The creature adds your proficiency bonus to its weapon damage rolls.

Improved Reaper

Starting at 17th level, when you cast a necromancy spell of 1st through 5th level that targets only one creature, the spell can instead target two creatures within range and within 5 feet of each other. If the spell consumes its material components, you must provide them for each target.
