Death Himself[edit]
The being tasked with the responsibility of shepherding the souls of the newly departed to the next plane of existance.
Physical Description[edit]
Usually depicted as cloaked skeletal figures wielding massive two-handed scythes, only those who have passed know the true form of these beings.
History[edit]
Folklore has many stories explaining how Death came into existence and the role they play, but they all share one concept; These beings visit you at your time of death and escort you off this mortal plane.
Society[edit]
Nothing is known, at least by mortals. Some religions believe there to be only one death, some believe there are many. (This can be decided by your dm)
Death Himself Traits[edit]
Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Age. Death does not age.
Alignment. Death Himself tends to lean towards more Lawful alignments.
Size. Between 5 and 8 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Celestial. Your creature type is celestial for the purpose of spells and effects.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Always on the Job. You do not need to sleep, eat, or breathe.
Being of Death. You are the embodiment of death itself, you are resistant to necrotic and poison damage.
The Ticking Clock of Mortality. You are able to see a clock above the heads of every creature you see that represents its current age and remaining lifespan. This does take current illness and injuries into account. Does not take future events such as being killed or contracting illness into account. If used on a creature while in combat, if the creature is not mortally wounded the clock does not change from what it was before combat.
Death's Authority. Undead recognize who you are and will not willingly attack you unless you have attacked them or if you are not in your true form i.e under any spell or effect that changes your appearance.
Soothing Visage. Since some souls fear Death you have the ability to transform your appearance to that of a target's deceased loved one. Lasts until dismissed. 1/month.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial.
