Death's Consort (5e Class)
Death's Consort[edit]
The soul that Death yearns to keep by its side, yet the soul it fears to lose. The consort of Death, the lover, the devotee, the warrior, the champion. The one who bears the name and the glory of Death itself.
Once, you died. And in that fleeting moment, you spoke with Death—and Death listened. Your words, your spirit, your very existence fascinated it. You could have done so much more in life, and so Death made you an offer.
Your soul drifted into the limbo between worlds, where you met Death face to face. There, a bond was forged—an unbreakable tether between your essence and the very force that claims all things. You bear Death’s mark, a shackle woven of fate and finality, entwining your existence with its own. Your lives are now one, bound by an inescapable truth: where Death walks, so shall you.
Creating a Death's Consort[edit]
What led your character to meet Death? Perhaps they suffered an accident while honorably protecting someone? Maybe they longed for life but were bound by the chains of illness? Or perhaps they cherished so deeply the thought of being remembered that they chose to make this battle their last?

Death's Mark[edit]
The mark of death — a mystical seal of a pact, a symbol of a contract forged by both sides. This mark, tattooed upon your soul, binds you to Death in an eternal union. You are now the one who walks alongside her, sharing an existence between two worlds. With every step, you feel the weight of life and death intertwined, as if they are part of a single fate. You live on the fragile line between the end and the beginning, the link between realms, destined to bring glory to the name of Death, through the immortal pact of consort, a bond that no time or force can sever.
The mark radiates a deadly aura, causing your attacks to deal an additional 1d8 necrotic damage. Every two levels, this damage increases by +1d8.
Your soul is shared with Death, making you immune to necrotic damage.
Death Step[edit]
Death follows wherever you go, and every step you take is an echo of the inevitable. The air around you grows cold, and the very shadows seem to stretch forward to embrace you. The living shudder as you advance, feeling the omen of their end deep within their bones.
Your bond with Death manifests in your charge. Whenever you move at least 10 feet in a straight line toward an enemy, you shroud yourself in a spectral veil of necrotic energy. The first melee attack you make at the end of this movement deals an additional 1d10 necrotic damage per proficiency bonus. Additionally, the target must make a Constitution saving throw
(DC = 10 + your proficiency modifier + your Wisdom modifier). On a failure, they become wreathed in an aura of death, granting them disadvantage on their next saving throw against your abilities.
Death's Blessing[edit]
Death Stare[edit]
Death's Protection[edit]
Ability Score Improvement[edit]
The Consort’s Embrace[edit]
Dowry of Death[edit]
The dowry given to the one who has united with Death, a gift as eternal as the vows shared in the quiet embrace of the afterlife. It is not merely a treasure, but a profound offering—woven with shadow and sealed in blood. In this union, the consort of Death grants its chosen a gift, a mark of their eternal bond, as they walk together through the realms of the living and the dead. This dowry is the soul’s most precious possession, a reminder of the price paid to stand at the side of the one who rules over all endings.
As an action, you invoke the chains of limbo, sending a wave of necrotic energy in a 6-meter radius around you. All creatures in the area must make a Strength saving throw.
(DC = 10 + your proficiency modifier + your Wisdom modifier).
- Failure: The creatures are bound by spectral chains, becoming restrained and unable to move until the end of their next turn. They also take 1d6 necrotic damage at the start of each of their turns while remaining restrained, as if the lost souls of limbo are pulling them toward the afterlife.
- Success: The creatures are only weakened by the presence of limbo, suffering disadvantage on Strength and Dexterity saving throws until the end of their next turn.
This ability can only be used once per short or long rest.
