Daverst (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Daverst[edit]
“ | During my adventuring days, I came across a creature that was in no book, it's race had no name and so in writing, I named it Daverst is a very rare species of fey creatures no one really know where they come from but they appeared around the land and though people have hunted these creatures, no one has ever killed a Daverst as far as we know. Their entire body has not been seen they as far as we know only have black fog that covers their body making their appearance hidden, but what we do know is that the fog fallows them, it makes a trail for about 20 feet. What is strange is that the Daverst doesn't kill or at least we have not seen one ever attack anyone, me in my colleges have tested this by hiring a few filthy barbarians to attack the Daverst and what we have seen is truly amazing when the Daverst feel threatened it produces a scream that paralyzes creatures nearby, now we don't know the range but we can only assume It's around 5 to 10 feet and clearly strength alone can't fight this strange ability. | ” |

Physical Description[edit]
The daverst resemble pale, skinny humanoids. They are skinny to the point that their spine and ribs will often show prominently under their skin. They have large, blue eyes and little to no hair on their body. Despite their thin appearance, they remain perfectly capable of moving gracefully with little effort, and they have wiry fingers. Their ears, like many fey, are long and pointed. Their faces are not as notably beautiful as elves, but have a slender structure. They commonly dress with flowy fabrics, hating how tight clothing makes them appear gaunt. Daverst are known to be able to use a variety of tricks to disguise their appearance by altering their appearance. Some are also able to conjure a black fog to hide their bodies.
History[edit]
Daverst history is not well known, supposedly buried among one of the many creature origins of the chaotic Feywild. It is believed that when fear causes one to scream, a daverst is born in the Feywild. While they are therefore a product of fear, they are not entirely malicious creatures. Daverst commonly have been known to be harmless to travelers who leave them alone. However, there are horror stories about those who wanted to harm a daverst for some reason. When cornered, the horrific purity of fear is manifested as a defense mechanism.
Society[edit]
When in the forests of the Feywild, the daverst are very spread out. They are considered to be loosely bound to one pack, but they live separately for most of the day. In the Material Realm, daverst communities are nearly nonexistent due to their numbers. Instead, they display a child-like curiosity about the ways of humans and other beings in the world. But a daverst is always distant, as though afraid of being hurt. They are very wary and alert people who know the dangers of being too invested and ignoring danger.
Daverst Names[edit]
Among their own, the daverst communicate in a strange series of grotesque grunting noises. No one has been able to figure out really what that communication is, as it is unique even among fey. The names daverst give as an address is often just an alias thrown together. But they will adhere to it as long as it is appropriate.
