The daogui, also known as the chotgor or obake, are distanly related to orcs and goblins like their saru bakemono relatives and are considered a somewhat more evolved version of bakemono. They have very large retractable blades which grow on their arms made from very hard bone and strong thick scale growing in this area so they can use their bone blades offensively or defensively in combat. Generally in combat they come in savage swarms with the bakemono as vicious cannon fodder from the front. They are generally smart enough to set up crude but effective ambushes and traps and they can speak in simple sentences through their crude mouths.
The daogui stand upright compared to their ape kin and generally breed more like mortals but there have been reports that they too sometimes spring from the earth. It is said they originally migrated from the badlands and hordelands to dwell near the east. They generally prefer to live underground or in ravines in the high mountains and they prefer to eat meat but they are also scavengers who will devour corpses, especially if a battle has just happened they will greedily collect corpses and cut sections of meat from dead soldiers and horses alike. They are surpisingly fast and agile but enough well armed soldiers can bring down a pack. They are deadly though and can rally in huge numbers if akuma lead them forward. Some daogui are born without arm spikes and are generally stronger but slower, these seem to be orcs that spring from their numbers and are given an axe or halberd.
