Crystal Maker (5e Subclass)
Crystal Maker[edit]
Artificer Subclass
Crystal Makers are artificers that empower crystals made from the land below and use it to hold and cast spells or grant unique effects. Typically, Crystal Maker creates crystals themselves but can buy more refined crystals to empower their effects and help them in types of situations they are in.

- Enchant Crystal
At 3rd level, you have gained the basic pillar of a Crystal Maker's core, crystals. On a long rest, you can configure a "no grade-type" crystal using your innate magic up to your Intelligence modifier to create unique effects originating from your crystal or you can divy them up and imbue one or more crystals by expending 1st level or higher spells into the crystals for later use. These crystals sell for no price and take a dull appearance when not holding anything in them but take a different appearance when holding a specialization and crystals holding spells take on a bright white that swirls with magic, moving almost like dust. When expending a Crystal, that crystal is then consumed.
If you wish to upgrade the potency of the crystal, you can go onto a scale of D to A. To upgrade one crystal, you must expend a number of gold into your crystals and must use Jeweler's Tools to make better crystals. Additionally, some crystal types in current and future levels may require higher grade-type crystals to even perform as in weaker crystals, the magic inside of it overwhelms the crystal and ceases the crystal and magic out of existence but it also goes the other way around, if the crystal does not mention a grade that means the crystal is to weak to function on a more potent crystal. This being said, crystals with a parentheses in their title followed by a grade, is the required grade you need (or higher) to use the crystal. The table below shows how much gold is required to make a better crystal:
Crystal Grader
Grade | Cost |
---|---|
D | 100 gold pieces |
C | 500 gold pieces |
B | 750 gold pieces |
A | 1,000 gold pieces |
If you are picking all or some specializations, pick from below:
Healing Sage Crystal This crystal is yellow and magic swirls within holding life magic that seems to playful mess around in the crystal. As an action, you can activate this crystal in a 15 ft radius, the life magic bursts out of the crystal, healing any creature within range by 3d4 hit points. If the crystal is grade D, it heals an additional dice, grade C gives another dice and cures a creature of one condition of your choice, grade B also gives another dice, cure two creatures of a condition and heals them for an additional 2d4 hit points, and grade A gives another dice, cure three creatures of a condition, heals them for an additional 3d4 hit points, and gives them a +1 AC for 3 turns.
Passion Defender Crystal This crystal is blue and magic swirls within holding armor-like magic that forms into a tiny transparent shield. As an action, you can activate this crystal in a 15 ft radius, the armor-like magic bursts out of the crystal, granting a +1 in AC to any creature in that radius for one minute. If the crystal is grade D, it gives creatures an additional +1 AC, grade C gives disadvantage on range attacks made against you, grade B gives you the ability to negate all damage made from one attack as a reaction but, the duration ends early for all creatures affected by the crystal. Grade A gives you a +2 and advantage on all Constitution saving throws.
Spell Freak Crystal (Grade C) This crystal is pure white and as dull looking as the crystals holding no magical benefit with the magic inside crazily moving. As an action, you can activate this crystal and give you an additional spell slot of 1st level to 2nd level. If the crystal is grade D, you get an additional spell slot of 1st level to 4th level, grade C gives you an additional spell slot of 1st level to 6th level, grade B gives you an additional spell slot of 1st level to 8th level, and grade A gives you an additional spell slot of 1st level to 9th level and you can restore another spell slot of 1st level to 5th level.
Action Attacking Crystal (Grade A) This crystal is black and the magic inside seems like it is trying to rebel out of its crystalized prison. As an action, you activate this crystal and give yourself an additional action and you can use your bonus action to attack once for three turns.

As an action, you can activate this crystal and give yourself or a creature within 330 ft of you the benefits of a barbarian's rage. This rage follows the same rules as a barbarian's rage. At grade D the duration is expended by an additional minute and you deal an additional damage equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). Grade C gives you resistance to one type of damage, and grade B gives you immunity to one type of damage and the additional damage equal to your Intelligence modifier is doubled (minimum of 1).
- Crystalline Structure

As an action, you may expend a crystal to form into a crystal like armor that forms on you or a creature within 30 ft of you, while you are crystallized you gain an AC of 17 plus your Intelligence modifier regardless of it current AC and you gain temporary hit points equal to your class level and 2 times your Intelligence modifier for one minute. Additionally, you can crystalline an object. When you crystalline an object a glittery-like surface that expands into a 10 ft long and wide structure, if the object is smaller than 10 ft in either direction, it covers as much as it can. When the object is crystallized, you can pick a specialization to activate when a certain situation arrives as a bonus action. If it targets yourself, you can instead pick a creature 15 ft within the crystalline structure. When the object is used, the crystal upon it disappears. Also, the object inflicted by the class feature gains an AC of 17 or higher if the object had higher AC. The duration on the object is one minute.
