Crystal Elf, Variant (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Crystal Elf (variant)[edit]
Physical Appearance[edit]
The appearance of crystal elves varies from pale skin to darker flesh of drow-like complexions. They are not naturally occurring races, so they tend to be rare pop-ups in the family trees. They share the typical appearances of their family's genetics. However, there is one distinguishing feature that all crystal elves share; Crystals growing within their skin and small crystal partials floating in their blood.
Background[edit]
The first crystal elf was said to be born in mythical historic times when a pregnant elf was fed a meal with crystal dragon blood laced throughout it. Known to be filled with magical essence, many believed this would heal any ailment one could suffer. The child born with crystal markings over their skin was said to be the most beautiful to ever be born. Many families, especially ones of nobility sought out the blood of crystal dragons, driving them to near extinction.
As the generations ceased to consume this blood, fewer crystal elves were born, until they seemed to be nothing more than a fantastical story for children at bedtime. It's said that about every five to seven generations, one appears in the ancient bloodline families that still have a strong connection to the protected lands once home to the crystal dragons.
