Corrupted[edit]

When the corruption came they saw the visage of the Abyss, and they embraced it.

Physical Description[edit]

Once human, these beasts fell to Abyss's corrupting flesh. The Corrupted are humanoid creatures that have become infected by a demonic flesh, due to exposure from demonic energy, and transformed into a half-human, half-demon race. Lacking visible eyes the Corrupted possess a single indentation in the center of their forehead which enables them to sense demonic energies. This indentation exposes the interior of their human skull, which possesses shrink wrapped skin and a lack of lips (with the teeth being exposed to open air).

Their skin, shining and smoothed, folds over itself in many places and often envelops items left on it for too long. Much the same as the head the skin is layed tight over the skeleton of Corrupted peoples, who have weak muscles and poor posture, resulting in an emaciated appearance.

History[edit]

A comparative young species, the Corrupted spawned less than a decade after the demonic rift opened up, their history is little and even less so is recorded. During the first years of the rift it was left opened and poorly protected, with energy seeping from the rift into the open air, resulting in hundreds of people being exposed to large amounts of corrupting energy. From this the first Corrupted were formed, writhing in pain as their flesh melted before them, and their society began.

Society[edit]

Despite the rift being open for many years unprotected, the horror is brought upon people was grand, only a few thousand people where infected by the corruption. As such Corrupted society is small and isolated and for those few Corrupted who enter the wider world they're treated as freaks and often brought to horror shows or otherwise fearful attractions as displays. Their society functions much the same as human society with their shorter lives bringing upon them the same vigor it does to the human people. From this the Corrupted city has grown significantly over the past few centuries into a sustainable complex designed purely for the Corrupted.

Corrupted Names[edit]

From the demonic corruption gender has been wiped from their physiology, with new Corrupted being born from archane rituals, and as such names are limited to one gender. With their rare species the Corrupted lack any distinct family boundries, with such a lack in last names, when close-knit groups do choose a secondary name they simply pick one from another language.

Corrupted: Due to the close ties the Corrupted have with demonic folklore their first-names are most often Latin words, since the dead language is most often accosiated with their kind.
