This spell enables you to change the metallic property of an item. Weapons, armor, and other metal objects carried by creatures are affected as well. A magic object made of metal effectively has spell resistance equal to 20 + its caster level against this spell. Artifacts are not affected by this spell.
The metal assumes the new properties of the changed item with regards to weight, hardness, etc. The item also assumes any negative effects to hit, damage, etc. from the new metal. The object appears as if it was crafted from the chosen metal. A steel sword changed to an cold iron sword would allow a wielder to damage creatures with DR 10/cold iron. When the spell duration is expired, the metal reverts to the original material.
Material Component: A handful of powder of the chosen metal sprinkled over the object.
