College of the Mesmer[edit]

Bard Subclass

Any bard can mess with the minds of their foes, the Mesmer takes that art and perfects it. Using their skills, the Mesmer can cause serious confusion and mental anguish amongst the enemy ranks.

Conjure Nightmares

When you join this college at 3rd level, you gain the ability to conjure nightmarish visions in the target. When you deal damage with a spell to a creature, you can use your bonus action to cause that creature to suffer an additional 1d6 points of psychic damage. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your charisma modifier. You gain all expended uses after a long rest. The damage increases to 2d6 at level 6 and to 3d6 at level 14.

Images of Remorse

Starting at 6th level, you gain gain the ability to attempt to punish your opponent for their attacks. When an a creature within 30 feet of you hits an ally with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to force them to make a Wisdom save vs your Spell DC. On a failure, the enemy suffers half the damage inflicted by their attack in psychic damage. Once you have used this ability, you cannot use it again until after a long rest.

Signet of Confusion

Starting at 14th level, as a 10 minute ritual, you can expend a 5th level spell slot to create a 10 foot by 10 foot signet of confusion on any surface. Any foe who comes within 5 feet of the signet must make a Wisdom save vs your Spell DC. On a failure, they suffer 5d6 points of psychic damage and suffers a 50% chance to hit itself with attacks and spells for the next 1d4 rounds. You cannot have more than one signet active at any one time and signets can be dispelled as if they a 5th level spell. Creatures immune to charm effects still suffer the damage if they fail the save, but do not suffer the percentage chance to hit themselves.
