College of Martial Dancing[edit]
Bard Subclass
Some Bards use the kinetics of dance rather than music to power their magic. These are called Martial Dancers, and they can be some of the deadliest unarmed combatants around.
- Martial Dance
At 3rd level, your practice of martial arts gives you mastery of combat styles that use unarmed strikes.
You gain the following benefits while you are unarmed or wielding a weapon and you aren't wearing armor or wielding a shield.
- You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes.
- You can roll a d4 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike or weapon. This die changes to a d6 at level 7, a d8 at level 13, and a d10 at level 19.
- When you use the Attack action with an unarmed strike or another weapon with which you are proficient on your turn, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action. For example, if you take the Attack action and attack with a quarterstaff, you can also make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, assuming you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn.
- Unarmored Defense
Staring at 3rd level, while you are wearing no armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma modifier.
- Blur of Motion
Starting at 6th level, you gain two new ways to use your Bardic inspiration:
- Once per turn when you make an unarmed strike or weapon attack, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration, roll the die, and add it to the result of the attack roll.
- Once per turn when you are targeted with a weapon attack, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration, roll the die, and add it to your AC against that attack roll. If this causes the attack to miss and a projectile such as an arrow was fired as part of the attack, you can catch it if you have a free hand.
- Dancing Fist
Starting at 6th level, you can pack a punch when making an unarmed strike. Whenever you take the attack action with an unarmed strike or another weapon with which you are proficient, you can use your bonus action and expend a spell slot to make an additional number of unarmed strikes equal to the spell slot's level. The damage is considered magical, and the attack and damage rolls use your Charisma instead of Strength or Dexterity.
- Spellslinging Fist
Starting at 14th level, whenever you make additional attacks using your Dancing Fist feature, you can also expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration. When you do so, the damage rolls of your attacks made with Dancing fist use your Bardic Inspiration die instead of your Martial Arts die. Additionally, you can apply the effects of a spell that has a casting time of 1 action or bonus action and that has a range of touch when you expend the use of Bardic Inspiration. The spell's effects applies as part of each attack made as part of Dancing Fist. The chosen spell must be of a level equal to or lower than the spell slot expended to use Dancing Fist and cannot exceed 5th level.
