Coil of Immortality[edit]

The Coil of Immortality is a Bodily Relic of legendary power that is believed to be just a myth by most, it's said to take the form of scar tissue that wraps completely around the person in questions neck. The Coil of Immortality is said to grant the person who has it the gift of true immortaility, this it does by releasing impossible energies into the person's body, these energies keep the material of the body fresh and young, and in a state of eternal regeneration.

Nature of the Coil of Immortality[edit]

Physical Affects of the Coil of Immortality[edit]

The Coil of Immortality has very few actual effects on the body of the person in question, except for the fact that it makes the person's flesh regenerate from any wound very quickly, prevents them from aging, and makes it so that if they die, they can merely get back up in a moment. The person is also never affected by disease or curses, and skin always appears young and clean, no matter how old they become.

  • In game terms the person who has this Bodily Relic has Fast Healing 10, is immune to diseases and magical curses, and if they die, then they fall to the ground, and ten rounds later, they get back up with full hit points (decapitation nullifies this this), additionally, if the character with this Bodily Relic loses a limb then they regrow it in 2d4 days.

Mental Affects of the Coil of Immortality[edit]

The mind of a person with the Coil of Immortality doesn't seem to be directly affected by the Bodily Relic. Although, after the knowledge that they're truly immortal sinks in, then they begin to become less and less afraid of things that could harm them, steadily becoming nearly completely fearless.

  • In game terms the person who has this Bodily Relic has an immunity to Fear effects after having the Relic for 2 years.

Properties of the Coil of Immortality[edit]

Crafting and Transfering of the Coil of Immortality[edit]

Only the few who have delved the deepest into the study of the ancient and the eldritch can lay any claim to the knowledge of the workings of the Coil of Immortality. The few who do know the way it works also know that the Relic has been lost from record for several hundred years. They also know that the only way to actually kill someone who has this Bodily Relic is through decapitation, and that the Relic is only removable from a person after they have died. The way to do this is to take a blade made of pure silver with no magical enchantments, and cut the ring of scar tissue that is the Relic from the neck. This ring of scar tissue is obviously not actual flesh, but is believed to be something similar to a long dead plant.

In order for a person to have the Coil of Immortality transferred onto their body they must first go through death. Although the person in question must first go through a week long process where they cleanse their bodies of any impurity (diseases, toxins, or curses) and eat only one, small meal consisting of bread and rice (or variants of the two) a day. After this process is complete they must drink a cup of tea made with leaves of mint and fall asleep, while thay are asleep the person who is to be making the transfer must behead them. The Coil must then be placed around the neck of the person (size does not matter, the Relic will resize itself to be of appropriate porportions) and the head of the recipient must be placed back onto the neck and held in place, with the Coil covering the wound. After all this has been done, a Cleric must cast the spell Resurrection on the body. As soon as the person is restored to life the Coil instantly heals any and all wounds on the persons body, and they are considered as having the Coil of Immortailty. Only a character who has 24 or more ranks in Craft(Bodily Relic) knows any of this information, there is no craft DC for this proccess. There is no way to create the Coil of Immortaliity from other materials.

The person who recieves this Bodily Relic will begin to feel very invigorated almost immediately after being Resurrected, almost as though they could do anything. The person will become rather foolhardy for a few weeks after this initial euphoria, but after these weeks they will begin to act like they did before they got the Bodily Relic, as though nothing every happened.

Immunities of the Coil of Immortality[edit]

The Coil of Immortality is one of the single most resilient items in existence, it is immune to every known type of energy, arcane and divine magic, and all psionic powers, in fact the only way to actually harm it is through physical damage exceding 8500 points. If a person is affected by a arcane or divine magic, or a psionic power that moves or affects their body in some way, the Coil of Immortality will move with the body, but it will cannot be harmed by any such energies.

Occurances of the Coil of Immortality[edit]

There is only one Coil of Immortality, and it was last documented as being in the possesion of a male Elf named Imarid Selith, and this was in several centuries ago. The Coil of Immortality isn't capable of being passed down through bloodlines.
