Circle of the Summoner[edit]
Druid Subclass
Woodland Summoner by Travis Purvis |
Using their ability to transform themselves into the beasts on reality around them, druids of the Circle of the Summoner conjure up beasts out of spirits and air to aid them in combat. They are known to be particularly deadly for defending forests with seemingly never-ending armies of beasts.
- Summon Beast
At 2nd level, you are able to conjure a beast by expending one use of Wild Shape, as an action. A beast with a CR of 1 or lower appears within 30 feet of yourself, which acts on its own initiative but listens to your commands. You must keep concentration on this, or the beast will dispel. You can only have one beast summoned at a time, and using this feature again replaces your currently summoned beast with a new one. You beast uses your proficiency bonus as its own.
At 6th level, you can summon any beast with a CR equal to or less than your druid level divided by 3 (round down).
- Mana Consumption
By 6th level, the beast you conjure is able to absorb some of the energy from your spells. When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher while within 60 feet of your summoned beast, it restores hit points equal to the slot level times 2. You can also choose to increase two of your beast's ability score improvements by 2.
- Freed Mind
Starting at 10th level, your beast is able to maintain itself instead of constantly requiring your focus. You no longer have to keep concentration on your summoned beast and your summoned beast's attacks count as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
- Superior Beast
By 14th level, your Beast adds your Wisdom mod to attack rolls and adds an extra die to its damage. Any save dc goes up by 2.
