Circle of the Pack, Variant[edit]

Druid Subclass

A Druid of the Pack may create a pack as they progress through the levels, the maximum size of the pack can be determined through the table below. The creatures allowed into this pack must not be humanoid but can otherwise be any creature the Druid decides, the Pack will use the generic pack stat blocks for all statistics.

Druid Level Pack Count
2nd 1 Creature
6th 2 Creatures
8th 3 Creatures
12th 4 Creatures
14th 5 Creatures

Call of the Alpha[edit]

At 2nd level, beasts begin to herald your call as a growing Alpha. At the levels in the table above, and on a long rest, you gain beasts to add to your pack. These beasts act as one unit in combat and out of combat.

The pack can be moved around the battle and can surround an ally, raising its AC by the amount of pack members, or it can surround an enemy, giving it disadvantage on attack rolls due to it being surrounded by beasts this uses the packs reaction.
As a bonus action from the Druid the pack can be commanded. A flat roll for the entire pack will be made and not by individual creatures.
Out of combat, the pack is composed of a number of creatures that the Druid can decide, these creatures have stat equal to the pack stat block, not their original stat blocks.

Stronger Together[edit]

At 2nd level, The druid can only assume the animal form of their respective pack as such when transformed you count as an additional member. You count as an Alpha version of this creature and as such are stronger than the normal one. You gain the average hit points of the creature you transform into plus half your druid level in additional hit die to add to it, rounded up. This affects your attacks as well and they go off of your spell attack for both to hit and damage rolls.
This also raises the total pack count by one whilst the Druid is wildshaped and during this time the pack can attack both as a full action and or a bonus action. Additionally while transformed as a member of the pack your transformation lasts indefinitely unless you end it early as a bonus action or hit 0 hitpoints.
Additionally, while you are transformed by Wild Shape, you can use a bonus action to expend one spell slot to regain 1d8 hit points per level of the spell slot expended. You may choose yourself as a target of this healing or your pack if they are within 60ft.

Alpha's Presence[edit]

At 6th level your Circle teachings allow you to assert more authority over some creatures. Any creature with a CR equal to or lower than your level (two levels lower has disadvantage and below that autofail) have to try and save against your spell save DC or be put under the effects of dominate creature. The dominate time ranges depending on CR of creature. Equal to your level is 1 hour unless reused, lower is 1 day, 2 lower is 3 days, below that is until dismissed by the Alpha, they are attacked below 1/3rd their max HP by the pack, or they hit zero hitpoints. If you do not already have such, you gain proficiency in intimidation.
6th level the packs attacks count as magical for overcoming resistances.

Pack Guardian[edit]

Beginning at 10th level, your bond to your allies has strengthened. In response to an ally within your total speed being attacked, you can use your reaction teleport to them and force the attacker to strike you instead, you receive the effects of resistance to any damage dealt. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once) per long rest.
In addition you gain heightened senses even outside of your wildshape state. When rolling perception or Survival, add 1d4 to the total of the roll.

Mighty Leader[edit]

At 14th level, Your connection with your pack grows, While you are within 60ft of your pack you cannot be surprised, along with your perception and survival rolls can never be less than a 10 as the pack helps pick out threats and objects.

True Alpha[edit]

At 20 th level, your pack has grown in size and thus needs an extra level of authority to keep it under control. You may now choose to assign a beta in your pack, this raises the overall pack statistics drastically so long as the beta is nearby. The beta can also be controlled separately from the pack in combat, using the Beta stat block.
Additionally you can use your Wild Shape an unlimited number of times. As well as you can ignore the verbal and somatic components of your druid spells, as well as any material components that lack a cost and aren't consumed by a spell. You gain this benefit in both your normal shape and your beast shape from Wild Shape.
