Druid Subclass
The Circle of Reincarnation cares not for the living or the dead, but instead for the process of change between the two. Staggering the line between life and death, they strike a balance. They, like other organizations that uphold reincarnation, fight undead relentlessly. All things are to be given the chance of reincarnation.
- Circle of Reincarnation Spells
Your mystical connection to the memories of the earth infuses you with the ability to cast certain spells. At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to circle spells connected to the energy of reincarnation. Once you gain access to a circle spell, you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn't appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.
Druid Level | Spells |
---|---|
3rd | Augury, Spike Growth |
5th | Plant Growth, Speak with Dead |
7th | Blight, Polymorph |
9th | Commune with Nature, Reincarnate |
- Notions of Long Ago
At 2nd level, you start having strange glimpses of the past lives of creatures. You have a font of energy that takes the form of notion dice, d6s. You have a number of these notion dice in your pool equal to your Druid level.
Whenever a creature you can see within 120 feet of you makes an attack roll, check, damage roll, or saving throw, you can use your reaction and expend any number of notion dice and add or subtract them from the result. You can only spend a number of notion dice in this way at a time equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down). An unwilling creature targeted with this ability can make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC, ignoring the result on a success.
You regain any expended notion dice when you finish a long rest.
- Additional Reincarnation Spells
Starting at 6th level, you can prepare one additional spell of 1st-level or higher. A spell prepared in this way can be from any class spell list. At 10th and 14th level, you can prepare one more spell in this way.
- Spell Echo
Starting at 6th level, your spells create echoes in the fabric of the natural world. Whenever you cast a spell prepared using your Circle of Reincarnation Spells or Additional Reincarnation Spells features using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can use your reaction to regain a spell slot of a level lower than the slot expended, to a maximum of 5th level.
- Deviate from the Path
Starting at 10th level, you can use the universe's memory of your path to teleport. You can use your action, bonus action, or reaction to and expend a notion die to return to a space you previously occupied within the past 6 seconds. If you use this ability as a reaction against an attack roll, the attack misses.
If you took any damage this turn or last turn when you use this action, you can choose to gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your druid level.
- Touch of Life and Death
Starting at 14th level, just your touch can evoke the cycle of death and rebirth. As an action, you can touch a conscious creature with 0 hit points and stabilize it or kill it (your choice). Whenever you stabilize or kill a creature, you regain a 1st-level spell slot (up to your maximum), and you gain temporary hit points equal to that creature's number of hit dice.
You can also empower this touch. When you would stabilize a creature, you can expend any number of notion dice to cause it to regain a number of hit points equal to the result rolled. When you would harm a creature, make a melee spell attack against it. On a hit, expend any number of notion dice. That creature takes the result + your Wisdom modifier (minimum of +0) in necrotic or poison damage (your choice).
Additionally, the Reincarnate spell no longer requires material components for you. If you are reincarnated, you can make a DC 20 Intelligence (History) check to recall any memory of your life as a Druid of Reincarnation. If you fail this check, you can't repeat it for the same memory.
