Druid Subclass

Druids of the Circle of Prehistoric Might are rare sights indeed. Their “order”, if one can even call it that, reveres Dinosaurs, even going as far as being either unable or unwilling to transform into another non-dinosaur creature. They are a primitive and isolated group mostly centered in the lush jungles of Chult, however they have been known to appear in other areas with high concentrations of dinosaurs. *Please note that this subclass was made with the preconception that there will be homebrew dinosaurs introduced, thus the scaling potentially going beyond CR 8 which is the highest CR a dinosaur can achieve in vanilla DND. I'd recommend the Dinosaur Manual by u/TotalMetaFuelCandy as it has an excellent and diverse array of dinosaurs that should fulfill most, if not all, of your dino needs.

Dinosaur Form

Your experiences with dinosaurs have heightened your transformations. Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a Dinosaur beast with a challenge rating as high as 1. You ignore the Max. CR column of the Beast Shapes table, but must abide by the other limitations there. You can only use your Wild Shape feature to transform into a Dinosaur beast from now on. Starting at 6th level, you can transform into a Dinosaur beast with a challenge rating as high as your druid level divided by 3, rounded down. At 7th level, you receive a +1 bonus to the CR of Dinosaur beasts you can transform into. At 15th level this bonus increases to +2. (So you may transform into a Dinosaur with CR of 8 or below at level 18 with Wild Shape, this bonus applies to Shapechange too.)

Second Skin

At level 2, you gain the ability to use Wild Shape on your turn as a Bonus Action, rather than as an Action. Additionally, if you are surprised at the beginning of combat and aren't incapacitated, you can act normally on your first turn, but only if you Wild Shape before doing anything else on that turn. If you are already Wild-Shaped then you may act normally without the need to Wild Shape first.

Prehistoric Ferocity (Optional)

When you take this subclass at level 2 you may choose to give up your Spellcasting feature from this class. If you choose to do so you gain the following benefits:

- The CR of Dinosaurs you can Wild-Shape into is equal to your druid level divided by 2. (You may still apply the +1/+2 from the Dinosaur Form feature.)

-You can spend 1 minute reinforcing your primal connection to regain all expended Wild Shape uses. Once you regain Wild Shape uses in this way, you must finish a long rest before you can do so again.

- Starting at 12th level, you may expend two Wild Shape uses to transform into a Dinosaur Beast whose CR is equal to your druid level. (You may apply the Dinosaur Form feature's CR bonus here.). You must finish a long rest before you can use this feature again, at 17th level in this class you only need to finish a short rest before you can use this feature again.

- While Wild-Shaped you gain a +5 bonus to damage rolls.

- While Wild-Shaped when you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for a melee attack you make you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, unless the roll is a 1 or a 2, in which case you may reroll it until a number other than a 1 or 2 is rolled.

Savage Strikes

Starting at 6th level, your attacks in beast form count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. Additionally you learn the Primal Savagery cantrip, it counts as a Druid cantrip for you, but doesn't count against your number of cantrips known. You can learn and cast this cantrip normally, even if you lose your Spellcasting feature as a result of Prehistoric Brute.

Apex Strength

At level 10, while Wild-Shaped you gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls, this bonus increases to +2 at 12th level, and +3 at 17th level. Additionally you gain the improved senses of an apex predator. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Tough Hide

By 14th level, your hide has become thick enough to shrug off most attacks. While Wild-Shaped any non-psychic damage you take is reduced by 5.
