Circle of Ephemeral Harmony[edit]

Druid Subclass

Druids of the Circle of Ephemeral Harmony embrace the transient nature of all things. They see life and death not as opposites, but as intertwined phases of an endless cycle—the withering of one form fuels the birth of another. These druids wield the forces of decay and renewal with reverence, shaping them into weapons and gifts.

Practitioners of this circle become skilled at channeling the liminal energy between existence and dissolution, extending their reach beyond the mortal realm and into the ethereal echoes of what was and what will be.

To the druids of this circle, the end is not a failure, but a natural and sacred phase. They walk the line between worlds with solemn grace, wielding weapons that can heal as easily as they can slay. They converse with the dead not to command them, but to honor their wisdom.

Viewed by some as morbid and others as enlightened, these druids stand as silent witnesses to the grand dance of dissolution and rebirth—the ephemeral harmony that underlies all existence.

Ephemeral Staff
3rd-level Circle of Ephemeral Harmony feature

You learn the shillelagh cantrip if you don't already know it. Your attunement to the ephemeral forces of life and death allows you to extend its power beyond its usual limits. When you cast shillelagh, you can target any melee weapon you are wielding, not just clubs or quarterstaffs. The weapon's damage becomes 1d8 + half your level (rounded down). If the weapon already deals more than 1d8 damage, you instead add half your level to the damage dealt. The weapon becomes magical if it isn't already.

Transitory Essence
3rd-level Circle of Ephemeral Harmony feature

You have learned to draw vital force from your foes, feeding upon the moment between their life and death. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack or spell attack, you can deal additional necrotic damage equal to 1d6 + half your level. You regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt.
Additionally, when a hostile creature dies within 30 feet of you, the passing of its essence reinvigorates your spirit, and you immediately regain one expended Hit Die. Once you regain a Hit Die in this way, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

Twilight Armament
6th-level Circle of Ephemeral Harmony feature

Your mastery over weapons infused with ephemeral forces deepens. While wielding a weapon affected by shillelagh, whenever you take the Attack action using that weapon, you can make one additional attack with it as a bonus action on the same turn.

Voice Beyond the Veil
6th-level Circle of Ephemeral Harmony feature

Your bond with the dead strengthens, allowing you to commune with them effortlessly. You can cast speak with dead without expending a spell slot or requiring material components. Additionally, you understand the spirit's responses regardless of language or intelligence and the spirit comprehends your questions even if you do not share a language or if it lacks the intelligence to normally communicate.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Balance of Light and Shadow
10th-level Circle of Ephemeral Harmony feature

You become a living embodiment of the balance between the forces of life and death. You gain resistance to necrotic and radiant damage. Additionally, each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you has advantage on death saving throws.

Emissary of Dissolution
14th-level Circle of Ephemeral Harmony feature

At the pinnacle of your power, you can manifest the inevitability of dissolution and rebirth. As an action, you can invoke your Emissary of Dissolution, which lasts for 1 minute. While active:

  • Whenever you deal damage to a creature with an attack or spell, you can choose to reduce its speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
  • Hostile creatures dying within 30 feet of you can't be stabilized or regain hit points, unless you allow it.
  • Whenever a hostile creature dies within 30 feet of you, you can choose up to a number of creatures you can see equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of one). Each selected creature regains a number of hit points equal to 2d8 + your Wisdom modifier.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
