Bonus Proficiencies

Starting at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the dragonchess set.

King's Defense

Also at 3rd level, you learn how to emphasize the protection of a specific target during a battle. When you roll initiative, you can designate one friendly creature you can see within 30 feet as a king.

Whenever the king is attacked, you can use a reaction to designate a creature as the king's defensor for that turn. The king's defensor, if within 5 feet of the king, can use its reaction to protect him, imposing disadvantage to that attack. After that, the king can move up to 5 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.

Pawn Charge

Also at 3rd level, on the first turn of combat, the movement speed of all friendly creatures within 30 feet, except for the creature designated as a king, increases by 10 feet until the end of their turn.

Bishop Flight

When you reach the 7th level, you can use your bonus action to move up to 30 feet as a reaction, as long as the whole movement is made in a straight diagonal.

This movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks.

Knight's Movement

At 10th level, when a friendly creature within 30 feet makes an attack against an enemy, that creature can move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.

Rook Protection

At 15th level, you can use your bonus action to allow a creature to move up to 30 feet in a straight line as a reaction.

In addition, when you use your King's Defense, you can choose a creature within 30 feet to be the king's defensor. When you do so, instead of rolling to impose disadvantage, the king's defensor can move up to 30 feet towards the king. If he ends its movement within 5 feet of the king, he can swap places with him, becoming the new target for the attack.

Queen's Flight

When you reach the 18th level, when you roll initiative, you can designate one creature of your choice within 30 feet as a queen. The chosen creature can't be the same as the one chosen as a King. The Queen can take the Dash action as a bonus action, and use the King's Protection on its own, without needing your command.

In addition, whenever a creature that is not the one designated as a king reduces a hostile creature to 0 hit points, that creature also gain the benefits of being designated as a queen.
