Cheox (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Cheox
I'm like a child, a lamb and a simpleton at once. All are born with me, yet few possess me at their moment of death. What am I?
A male Cheox berserker, made by Brad Rigney |
Physical Description
The Cheox are a race of amalgamations that have been corrupted by necrotic or hemomanic means. The eyes of Cheox have been covered by their deformed skulls, but they are still able to "see" through echolocation. A male Cheox's horns have tripled and grown far longer than their original form, and their lips have fallen off due to their skin no longer fitting them well. Females still do not have horns, yet their hair has grown thicker and longer than their original form as well. The skin of the Cheox is also covered in spines, though they do not form in any meaningful or practical formation. Cheox do not die of old age, this is so long as they continue to eat the flesh of those that they kill themselves. Any meat that they eat that they did not kill themselves tastes rancid to them.
History
The Cheox were created by either a necromancer or hemomancer or possibly by an evil Fey. The Cheox were formed from a ritual involving the corpse of a faun and the blood of a wendigo. The ritual used to create the Cheox is unknown in origin but has been spread across the continents at a rapid pace. The Cheox have begun to become more common, though have yet to be a part of normal society. The Cheox are very aggressive creatures and are not one to easily make friends with. However, at the promise of a good hunt, one can have a Cheox as a follower for cheap.
