Chainsaw Maniac[edit]

Looking for an insane character that likes ripping flesh from bone? This class is for you!

Delight in Bloodlust[edit]

A burly human screams in delight as he buries his vibrating weapon into the zombie, ripping it to shreds. A half orc, angered at the elf for killing his family, begins ripping at him with his bare hands. Chainsaw Maniacs are reckless, insane people who want to kill everything in their path. Not only that, but they take pleasure in it.

Creating a Chainsaw Maniac[edit]

When making your maniac, decide why he has taken this path. Did they have a mental breakdown and are now insane? Do they want revenge on a certain people group?

Quick Build

You can make a Chainsaw Maniac quickly by following these suggestions. First, Strength should be your highest ability score, followed by Constitution. Second, choose the Mass Murderer background. Third, choose lots of chainsaws (obviously).

Chainsaw Adeptness[edit]

You, as a Chainsaw Maniac, are unusually adept at using chainsaws. Whenever you hit an attack with a chainsaw, you can add damage equal to the damage shown on the Chainsaw Maniac chart.

Expert Athlete[edit]

Your proficiency bonus is doubled when you make an ability check that uses Athletics.

Fighting Style[edit]

Although insane, chainsaw-obsessed wierdos don't usually have any semblance of order, you gain the ability to adopt a specialty of fighting. Choose one of the following options. You can't take a Fighting Style option more than once, even of you later get to choose again.

Defense

While you are wearing armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.

Great Weapon Fighting

When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an attack with a melee weapon that you are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or 2. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.

Protection

When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose a disadvantage on that roll. You must be wielding a sheild.

Ways of the Maniac[edit]

At 3rd level, you chose a Way. Choose between Way of the Blood luster, Way of the Insane, or Way of the Flesh-Eater, all detailed at the end of the class description. Your choice grants you features at 3rd level and again at 7th, 13th, and 19th levels.

Ability Score Improvement[edit]

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Extra Attack[edit]

Your reflexes... or maybe just your hunger for killing (possibly literally) has empowered you, so that you can attack multiple times at once. When you reach 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Fuel Efficiency[edit]

Even though Chainsaw Maniacs are anything but efficient, you have grown adept enough with chainsaws that you can use it's fuel with extra efficiency. Fuel now burns in half the amount of time that it normally does for you, when you are using a chainsaw that is on.

Berserk Chainsaw Wielder[edit]

By level 9, you have gained the ability to use chainsaws with extreme proficiency. You can now treat chainsaws that you are wielding as if they had the light property instead of the heavy property, and as if they did not have the two-handed property. In addition, whenever you use your bonus action for double-wielding, if you are attacking with two chainsaws, you can add your ability modifier to the attack and damage roll of the second attack. Chainsaws still count for Great Weapon Fighting, though.

Render of Flesh[edit]

By 10th level, your ability to tear someone to shreds had increased dramatically. Your chainsaw damage increases to 3d8 Slashing, instead of the 2d8 as it is to start with.

Rageful Might[edit]

You have grown to a point where your rage makes you stronger. Your proficiency bonus is now tripled on any strength check you make that involves Athletics, and you have a +1 bonus to damage on attacks that involve strength.

Bloody Rage[edit]

By 14th level, your rage in combat increases when you see the blood of your enemies. While you are within 5 feet of a creature that you can see that's hostile to you and it has 1/2 or less of it's maximum hit points, you gain a +4 bonus on attack and damage rolls that target that creature, until the aforementioned prerequisites are not fulfilled, of the creature dies. In addition, when any creature dies that you can see within 10 feet of you, you gain advantage on your next attack roll. This attack must be taken within a minute of seeing the creature die.

Saws of Death[edit]

At 18th level, you are so familiar with your chainsaws that they are more powerful than regular chainsaws. You no longer need fuel for your chainsaws. (If you need a logical explanation, your chainsaws are so cool, they broke physics. Now you can walk up hill both ways!)

Insane Death Machine[edit]

By 20th level, you are so powerful, it's insane. Any attack you make with a chainsaw that hits is a critical hit.

Way of the Blood Luster[edit]

Those who follow the Way of the Blood Luster become a Chainsaw Maniac because they thirst for power or blood. These people kill everyone and everything in their way, not stopping to think about consequences.
