"Yes, the soul may be weak and sometimes it may even give in. But I've learned that deep down, there's a light that never goes out!"
—unnamed young Celestial Warlock

Where most warlocks get their spells from a demonic or draconic origin, this Warlock has had some divine association in its earlier years in life: he have sealed a pact with an angel. This divine connection makes this Warlock different from the power of a different sort of warlock. Usually angels who seal pacts with these people are dying angels whose will to keep doing good reaches some pure souls. Once the pact is sealed the angel dies, but his soul keeps living inside a Celestial Warlock's one. After the pact is sealed the Celestial Warlock forgets everything about the angel and the pact, but gains part of the angel's knowledge; enough knowledge to understand what he's able to do with his mysterious powers, what he is prohibited to do, and general knowledge a Celestial Warlock may need during the course of his life.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Celestial Warlock.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Celestial warlocks are proficient with all simple weapons. They are proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields).

Because the somatic components required for Celestial warlock invocations are relatively simple, a Celestial warlock can use any of his invocations while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. However, like arcane spellcasters, a Celestial warlock wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure (all invocations, including angelic blast, have a somatic component). A multiclass warlock still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from levels in other classes.

Angelic Blast (Su): The first ability a Celestial Warlock learns is angelic blast. A Celestial Warlock attacks his foes with angelic power, using baleful magical energy to deal damage and sometimes impart other debilitating effects.

An angelic blast is a ray with a range of 60 feet. It is a ranged touch attack that affects a single target, allowing no saving throw. An angelic blast deals 1d6 points of damage at 1st level and increases in power as the Celestial Warlock rises in level. An angelic blast is the equivalent of a 1st-level spell. If you apply a blast shape or eldritch essence invocation to your angelic blast, your angelic blast uses the level equivalent of the shape or essence.

An angelic blast is subject to spell resistance, although the Spell Penetration feat and other effects that improve caster level checks to overcome spell resistance also apply to angelic blast. An angelic blast deals half damage to objects. Metamagic feats cannot improve a Celestial Warlock's angelic blast (because it is a spell-like ability, not a spell). However, the feat Ability Focus (angelic blast) increases the DC for all saving throws (if any) associated with a Celestial Warlock's angelic blast by 2.

A Celestial Warlock can use angelic blast at will.

Invocations (Sp): Celestial Warlocks have the ability to call upon the powers of Angels, using abilities called 'invocations'. A Celestial Warlock can use any invocation he knows at will, with the following qualifications:

A Celestial Warlock's invocations are spell-like abilities; using an invocation is therefore a standard action that provokes attacks of opportunity. An invocation can be disrupted, just as a spell can be ruined during casting. A Celestial Warlock is entitled to a Concentration check to successfully use an invocation if he is hit by an attack while invoking, just as a spellcaster would be. A Celestial Warlock can choose to use an invocation defensively, by making a successful Concentration check, to avoid provoking attacks of opportunity. A Celestial Warlock's invocations are subject to spell resistance unless an invocation's description specifically states otherwise. A Celestial Warlock's caster level with his invocations is equal to his Celestial Warlock level.

The save DC for an invocation (if it allows a save) is 10 + equivalent spell level + the Celestial Warlock's Charisma modifier. Since spell-like abilities are not actually spells, a Celestial Warlock cannot benefit from the Spell Focus feat. He can, however, benefit from the Ability Focus feat, as well as from feats that emulate metamagic effects for spell-like abilities, such as Quicken Spell-Like Ability and Empower Spell-Like Ability.

The four grades of invocations, in order of their relative power, are least, lesser, greater, and dark. A Celestial Warlock begins with knowledge of one invocation, which must be of the lowest grade (least). As a Celestial Warlock gains levels, he learns new invocations, as summarized on above Table. A list of available invocations can be found on the warlock invocations page.

At any level when a Celestial Warlock learns a new invocation, he can also replace an invocation he already knows with another invocation of the same or a lower grade. At 6th level, a Celestial Warlock can replace a least invocation he knows with a different least invocation (in addition to learning a new invocation, which could be either least or lesser). At 12th level, a Celestial Warlock can replace a least or lesser invocation he knows with another invocation of the same or a lower grade (in addition to learning a new invocation, which could be least, lesser, or greater). At 16th level, a Celestial Warlock can replace a least, lesser, or greater invocation he knows with another invocation of the same or a lower grade (in addition to learning a new invocation, which could be least, lesser, greater, or dark).

Finally, unlike other spell-like abilities, invocations are subject to arcane spell failure chance as described under Weapon and Armor Proficiency above. Celestial Warlock can qualify for some prestige classes usually intended for spellcasters, as a standard warlock.

Aura (Su): A Celestial Warlock gives off an aura of any alignment that they lean strongly to. The auras being law/chaos and/or good. Any alignment changes will affect the aura and a True Neutral alignment does not give off a specific aura. This ability cannot be suppressed but is temporarily dispelled in an Anti-Magic Field or a similar functioning ability.

Ego: The Angel Soul residing inside of the Celestial Warlock has an Ego, much like an Intelligent Item. In cases where a Celestial Warlock and the Angel Soul come into conflict or disagree, the Angel Soul may attempt to exert its dominance and take control of the Celestial Warlocks body. Once the soul has an Ego score of 20 or higher, it always considers itself superior to the Celestial Warlock, and a personality conflict results if the Celestial Warlock does not always agree with the Angel Soul.

When a personality conflict occurs, the Celestial Warlock must make a Will saving throw (DC = Angel Soul’s Ego). If the Celestial Warlock succeeds, she is dominant. If she fails, the Angel Soul is dominant. Dominance lasts for 1 day or until a critical situation occurs (such as a major battle, a serious threat to either the Angel Soul or the Celestial Warlock, and so on).

Channel Positive Energy (Su): As a standard action, a Celestial Warlock may release a wave of energy. Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the Celestial Warlock. The amount of damage dealt or healed is equal amount listed in the chart above. Creatures that take damage from channeled energy receive a Will save to halve the damage. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the Celestial Warlock’s level + the Celestial Warlock’s Charisma modifier. Creatures healed by channel energy cannot exceed their maximum hit point total—all excess healing is lost. A Celestial Warlock may channel energy a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier. This is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. A Celestial Warlock can choose whether or not to include herself in this effect.

Divine Grace (Su): At 2nd level, a Celestial Warlock gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) on all saving throws.

Detect Magic (Sp): Beginning at 2nd level, a Celestial Warlock can use detect magic as the spell at will. His caster level equals his class level.

Angelic Flame (Sp): At 3rd level a Celestial Warlock's Angelic Blast may deal fire damage now. The Celestial Warlock may change the energy type at will as a swift action.

Damage Reduction (Su): Starting at 4th level, a Celestial Warlock gains damage reduction 1/Evil, which increases by 1 every 4 levels.

Divine Blast (Sp): At 7th level a Celestial Warlock's Angelic Blast may deal damage that bypasses DR/Good. The Celestial Warlock may change the energy type at will as a swift action.

Angelic Resilience (Su): Beginning at 8th level, a Celestial Warlock knows the trick of angelic resilience. Once per day, as a free action, he can enter a state that lasts for 2 minutes. While in this state, the Celestial Warlock gains fast healing 1.

At 13th level, a Celestial Warlock's angelic resilience improves. When in his angelic resilience state, he gains fast healing 2 instead. At 18th level, a celestial warlock's angelic resilience improves to fast healing 5.

Divine Flame (Sp): At 9th level a Celestial Warlock's Angelic Blast may deal damage as holy fire, which bypasses fire resistance and fire immunity but deals no damage to targets who are not Evil Aligned. The Celestial Warlock may change the energy type at will as a swift action.

Energy Resistance (Su): At 10th level and higher, a Celestial Warlock has resistance 5 against any two of the following energy types: acid, cold, electricity, fire, and sonic. Once the types are chosen, this energy resistance cannot be changed. At 20th level, a Celestial Warlock gains resistance 10 against the two selected types of energy.

Angelic Wings (Su): At 15th level, white feathery angelic wings grow from your back as a standard action, giving you a fly speed of 60 feet with average maneuverability. You can dismiss the wings as a free action.

Timeless Body (Ex): At 19th level a Celestial no longer ages either through the passage of time or magically due to their divine abilities.

One with the Angels (Su): At 20th level the celestial warlock is now a treated as a good outsider, in turn they are now affected by spells against good and banishment. You become immune to being charmed, frightened, possessed, petrified or exhausted. Gain Truesight 30ft and when you drop an evil outsider to 0 hp with your angelic blast they are completely destroyed instead of banished.
