Celestials are the result of an ancient nation of humans dedicated to the gods. In return for their service, the gods granted them partial divinity, and their descendants wander the world with a spark of godliness in them.

Play a celestial if you want...

  • to play a nearly immortal hero and draw on your own divine power.
  • to be long-lived, proud, and arrogant.
  • to be a member of a race that favors the paladin, warlord, ranger, and fighter classes.

Physical Qualities[edit]

Tall and muscular, the average celestial stands over seven feet tall. Celestials are more dense and at the same time more slender than humans, weighing about the same amount as their mortal cousins.

A celestial’s skin can be various shades of gold, silver, and bronze, white, crystal, emerald, sapphire, purple, or ruby, and can radiate a warm golden light. Celestials’ hair covers similar tones, and their eyes are pure white.

Most celestials live to be over 300 years old, remaining strong and healthy until the end of their lives.

Playing a Celestial[edit]

Being promoted to the rank of immortals imposed several personality traits on the celestials. They are refined and polite, with an instinctual knowledge of courtly manners. However, celestials are proud, haughty, and prone to arrogance, viewing shorter lived races with disdain and even disgust. Most celestials believe that it is their duty to carry out the will of the gods, and are strongly drawn towards the lawful good alignment. Although they often choose divine classes and worship the deities closely, celestials generally draw on their own divine power rather than that of the gods. Most celestials like to impress mortals by showing off their immortal heritage, so they dress in flowing silk robes and shining armor of crystal or metal.

Celestial Adventurers[edit]

Three celestial adventurers are described below.

Astranon is a celestial paladin, a sworn enemy of the gods. His ancestors were granted immortality by Bahamut, but he found that he liked the chaos of the Primordials, and now fights for them, drawing on the divine power within him. Astranorn now lives in constant fear that the gods will find a way to strip him of his power, and strives to defeat them before they do.

Xarania is a celestial cleric, fighting to bring Pelor’s light to the dark places in the world. She was brought up in a human town, and knew nothing of her divine nature until Pelor visited her in a dream, and she became his cleric.

Diliapat is a celestial fighter who has embraced his immortality. Rather than worshiping the gods, he strives to become a god himself. Dressed in magnificent golden armor, he treats lesser mortals as useless scum, ordering them around and bullying them.
