Innate Spellcasting. The carianif's innate spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 16). She can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: animal friendship, entangle, moonbeam, speak with animals
3/day each: awaken, conjure animals
1/day: insect plague

Keen Sight and Smell. The carianif has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight or smell.

Mimicry. The carianif can mimic animal sounds and humanoid voices. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful DC 16 Wisdom (Insight) check.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The carianif makes two attacks with her thorns or spines.

Thorn. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) slashing damage plus 18 (4d8) poison damage.

Spine. Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 60 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (4d8 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or have speed halved until the start of the carianif’s next turn.

Carianifs live far away from most civil actions, both in the Feywild and occasionally on the Prime Material Plane. Most keep to themselves, away from other fey and humanoids alike. Beasts are the only exception, of which the carianif hold a strong fondness toward. A carianif’s arms contain sharp thorns not unlike a hawthorne tree, which they can grow or drop at will. These thorns are poisonous. A carianif uses these thorns for defense, and have been known to sharpen any that fall off into deadly ranged weapons. The poison that coats these thorns changes once removed from the body, becoming a weakening agent as opposed to a damaging toxin.
