Caninus (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Caninus[edit]
The caninus were created at the beginning of Versumian history. The God of Light, Teladn, created them in his own image. Being followers of light, they are usually light-hearted and lawful. They also seem to see all races as equals, regularly wishing for nothing more then to make the other races happy.
Physical Description[edit]
Caninus look much like normal dogs, but are much large in size, around four feet in height when standing on their back legs. Beyond this, their paws have obtained opposable thumbs so they are able to hold things with ease.

Caninus Traits[edit]
Cute little crafty dogs.
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma scores increase by 2.
Age. Caninus become adults by age 10. Most live to around 40 or 50 on average.
Alignment. Caninus span many alignments and ideals. Their tendency toward loyalty and strong faith leads to lawful alignments being very common.
Size. Your size is based on your subrace.
Speed. You are able to shift between the four legged stance of other dogs and the 2 legged stance of your race with ease. Your speed is 25 feet on 2 legs, and 35 feet on all 4. You cannot take any other attack action besides bite while on all fours. You can try to use a weapon in your mouth with disadvantage while in this position. Using your bite does not impose disadvantage. Dropping to all fours and getting up to two legs requires 5 feet of movement. You can also use 5 feet of movement to stand up on all four legs if you are prone, but cannot change to your two legged stance in the same turn.
Fey. Your creature type is fey, rather than humanoid.
Animalistic Agility. Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
Scent. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception), Wisdom (Survival), and Intelligence (Investigation) checks that involve smell.
Darkvision. Thanks to ages of adjusting to the night’s sky with canine kin, your race has the boon of contending with darkness. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Easy to Spook. With the world being as huge as it is, everything around you can be pretty terrifying. You have disadvantage against being frighened and on all saves pertaining to fear effects.
Biting Jaws. Due to your canine heritage, you are able to bite on foes who get in your way. Your teeth count as a weapon that you are proficient with. If you hit with your teeth, the target takes piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier.
