Canicor (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Canicor[edit]
"I remember ancient days, When We lived among Elf and man, and all were at peace. Back when Lupa lived among us..."
— Savilsin k'Diron of Lysia
The Canicor are an ancient race of humanoid lupines. Unlike similar races, they were created alongside races like humanity, on many worlds. However, humans and elves drove them from their mountain homes, to forests and deserts, and near extinction. Over the millennia, they have remained pure, keeping their diversity through magic.
Physical Description[edit]
The Canicor are tall lupine humanoids, bearing the appearance and the instincts of wolves. They walk cautiously, senses almost always alert. Males and females are the same size, although males tend to be more muscular. That being said, they are always lean, never bulky. Their fur ranges the entire natural range of wolves, depending on the environment that they hail from. Their eyes range from gold to silver to orange and even red. They are always white at birth, changing at about three weeks after birth.
History[edit]
The ancient Canicor were created by the goddess Lupa nearly ten thousand years ago, to serve as helpers to the ancient elves. They were known throughout the worlds of the Material Plane as people to be respected, for both their lawful ways and their ability to hunt down even the most elusive of prey. Then, in the Wolfwars, Lupa was slain, and Sepharil the Wolflord ascended. Those who worshiped Sepharil were transformed into the first Lycanthropes, while those who chose to turn their backs on him stayed Canicor. The Elves hated them and drove them to the forests and deserts of the world. Now, the Canicor seek to revive Lupa and reclaim their ancestral homes.
Society[edit]
The Canicor live in packs, a structure similar to the clans of the Dragonborn or Dwarf races. They are ruled like wolves, with an Alpha male and female. Canicor are driven by both instinct and cunning, working together to bring down their enemies. The pack always comes first, before outsiders, or the gods themselves. They are very independent.
Canicor Names[edit]
Every Canicor has a personal name, one that they keep secret. They believe that to know one's personal name is to have power over them. They often take names in the languages of other races, such as humans, elves, gnomes, halflings, even Dragonborn, or they pick names that describe them, as their “nicknames.” Usenames can describe their personality, their physical appearance, or their heritage.
